The Mission

NeighborSchools is on a mission to reinvent child care from the ground up.

Today in America, working-parents with young children spend over $75B a year on child care, but the caregivers, the hard-working women* who actually work hands-on with our children, they get paid peanuts. The problem is that big child care centers are so expensive to run that they have to charge parents a ton, and there's still very little left over for the caregivers. This forces the best caregivers to leave child care in search of better wages, and leaves families struggling to find quality care.

At NeighborSchools, we've developed a new solution that puts people first. We help individual caregivers go independent, get licensed, open up micro-daycares in their homes, and work directly with families in the community. Caregivers that launch daycares on NeighborSchools earn 2-3X more than preschool teachers, even while charging parents less for child care. And children benefit from the small, intimate settings and programs led by experienced professionals. That's the win-win-win.

Our goal is to help a million caregivers launch new, independent daycares in the next 10 years and bring quality, affordable child care to every neighborhood in America.

* over 99% of prospective daycare providers signing up for NeighborSchools are women.

The Role

Every day, thousands of first-time parents wake up and face the daunting task of finding child care they can trust and afford. They often rely on outdated websites (care.com, yelp, etc.) and resort to calling 20+ daycares and leaving voicemails just to try to find a program with any openings at all.

At NeighborSchools we've reimagined the child care search from the ground up. We've built a personalized recommendation algorithm that matches parents with daycares based on their requirements (location, schedule, & child's age) and preferences (program philosophy, language of instruction, etc.). Parents then have the power to explore, tour, and enroll in small, independent home daycares run by experience, professional caregivers. Like Talkspace in therapy, or CareOf in vitamins, our child care matching UX is 10X better than anything else on the market (try it for yourself, right on our homepage 😉).

To date, 90% of our customer acquisition has been through organic SEO. After 3 years of building out a robust platform and marketplace, we're seeing positive ROI on paid acquisition pilots and we're hiring a Sr. Marketing Manager to build out and own it. This is a senior IC role with the opportunity to build and manage a team in the future. Strong demonstration of positive ROI and an ability to juggle and manage competing priorities will accelerate that timeline.

This is an opportunity to join a high-growth, mission-driven startup and build out a full-funnel digital & paid strategy. You'll work directly with our CEO and collaborate with our product and engineering team. You'll also collaborate with our content & digital marketers on our caregiver-facing team.

Qualifications

You must absolutely love marketing. You need to love tackling hard-to-communicate ideas and finding creative, compelling, simple ways to convey the essence and ethos of an emerging brand. You should be proficient in the foundational platforms (AdWords & Facebook, Email & SMS) but also recognize that these are tools not solutions. You understand the tradeoffs between short-term CvR and long-term brand equity, and can rely on intuition and past experience in informing these decisions.

First-hand experience finding and enrolling in child care is a plus, but not a requirement.

Experience & Skills

  • Possess a "Marketing Mindset" - you live and breath marketing, you have a habit of studying the work of other marketers / brands, and weaving the best of these examples into your work
  • 2-4 years experience in high-growth startup: you've directly contributed to the growth of a strong brand. You know the playbook, even if there are things you'd do differently next time around
  • Exceptional written communication: you understand that words matter and you're constantly finding creative ways to tell our story in ways that authentically engage and compel our audience.
  • Ability to work independently & as a team: with a one-month onboarding, we expect you to own your own calendar, work towards your goals, and ask for help when you need it. We collaborate a lot, but we don’t micromanage; we expect everyone to take initiative and work directly with teammates across the company.
  • Be resourceful & organized: we’re an early-stage startup (

If you meet some but not all of the qualifications here, and you’re passionate about our mission and this opportunity, we hope you’ll apply anyway.
