We are seeking to hire a creative, motivated, and data-driven Director of PR & External Communications to join our team. He/she will be responsible for amplifying brand awareness through the development and execution of a fully integrated Public Relations and Communication program that gains positive stakeholder and industry media coverage for the Indigo Ag brand. We have a powerful story to tell, and we are looking for a leader who can lead our corporate message development and execution for our external stakeholders, farmers, agribusinesses corporations and thought leaders. 

Responsibilities:

  • Defines, develops, and executes a data-driven communications plan for external stakeholders, creating a corporate narrative, ensuring our story is unique, differentiated and fully activated across multiple channels
  • Manages all media relationship activities including press outreach, development of press materials, briefing documents, interviews and speaking engagements
  • Leads the Public Relations / External Communications platform, collaborating and aligning with our Brand and Public Affairs leaders to establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and other related industry influencers; maintain records of media coverage and systematize analytics / metrics to align with business objectives and respond to various media inquiries; evaluate media opportunities; arrange interviews with management and leadership
  • Creates and manages integrated Thought Leadership platforms to drive Indigo’s category and leadership
  • Establishes key metrics and measures the impact of the communication campaigns
  • Writes compelling content for communications including website, publications, public relations, social, and presentations
  • Develops and manages the External Communications calendar, ensuring that all key internal stakeholders are aligned and informed
  • Develops and executes the company’s crisis management program

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree with experience in external communications, or equivalent experience in a similar role is strongly desired
  • Exceptional writer and storyteller, minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in an external communications role
  • Ideally working experience in both agency and client companies
  • Strong knowledge of publishing software and social media platforms
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, comfortable in an evolving marketplace / category and fast-paced culture
  • Experience leading external communications in a mission-based company preferred
  • Ideal profile includes experience in technology/B2B and/or agriculture
  • Existing relationship with journalists preferred
  • Proven track record of media hits and ability to drive brand ambassadorship and advocacy

Location

On the edge of Charlestown, we are within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Sullivan Square T and bus stop is also right next door! We are currently working remote/hybrid with the exception of our fantastic Biotrinsic team who work from the office and lab space here.
