About the Role
Your primary responsibilities include telling Drift’s company and product story to sales and marketers around the world to drive awareness of the new software category of revenue acceleration and showcase Drift as the category leader. In addition, you'll develop and execute internal communications programs to reach all levels of the global organization to inform, engage, and inspire the Drift team. This is an opportunity to lead communication efforts at Drift working in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment.
You’ll work closely with our executive leadership team to showcase their voices. Your stories will reach our target audiences in the US, Europe and other markets as we continue our global expansion. The result of your work will elevate Drift’s brand, drive product awareness and support our hiring efforts. This role reports directly to the CMO.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Becoming an expert in the Drift voice and developing a deep understanding of our business
- Building relations with and pitching media, including developing relationships with reporters and media outlets, and getting coverage in key publications, broadcast networks, podcasts, and other media sources.
- Creating, building and scaling communications strategies for the company and its key executives including developing content for external audiences such as investors, business partners, media, and customers (including storylines, scripts, speeches, talking points, blog posts, letters, press quotes, etc.).
- Partnering with teams across the company, including researching subject matter for press pitching as well as speeches/keynotes/panels, to find the most impactful stories.
- Coordinating, writing and editing content for a variety of internal communications channels including company newsletters, employee events, presentations, leadership communications, and a variety of internal programs.
- Supporting change management communications (in partnership with HR) and handling the internal communication response to crises that affect the perception and reputation of the company.
- Serving as an internal communications partner helping drive engagement and a deeper connection to cultural values and the company vision.
- Keeping a finger on the pulse of our company culture and aggregate information to keep leadership and key stakeholders informed.
- Ensuring message consistency across channels, platforms, and for different departments, teams, and offices throughout the organization.
- Managing external agencies and/or consultants.
- Creating metrics to measure the success and impact of corporate communications.
About You
- 7+ years of experience in corporate communications, preferably at a high-growth B2B technology company.
- You’re a self-motivated individual, comfortable operating in a high volume and fast-paced environment without sacrificing results.
- You have a strong relationship with the media and have an easy time building new relationships and a consistent track record of pitching and securing top-tier press.
- You require minimum management and enjoy solving problems.
- You’re comfortable leading initiatives and you can also do the more time-intensive work (drafting, editing, etc.)
- You have the ability to work with the utmost discretion in the management of confidential corporate information.
- You’re deeply collaborative and are able to build close partnerships and orchestrate work across departments and with key stakeholders.
- A natural storyteller who can take complex topics and make them easy to digest.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with extreme attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate and interact with key internal stakeholders including executives and marketing peers, as well as external media partners.
- Sound business judgment; knows what makes compelling press work.
- Well-informed about innovative practices in PR.
