Market Manager, Australia

Purpose of the job

Based in Sydney, the job is to develop interest and buying potential for MillerKnoll products in a given geographical area (which will be confirmed by the line manager and is subject to change) and to develop, involve and co-ordinate MillerKnoll and Dealer resources against opportunities. To take a lead role in major project opportunities to close business against specific sales and margin targets. To specifically target the A&D marketplace and End Users to generate leads and opportunities.

Specific responsibilities

  • Promote the companies products and services, obtain orders on behalf of the company.
  • To gain an understanding of the business community locally and begin to identify both opportunities in national and local sectors.
  • To win business against a sales and margin target for a products within the identified sectors.
  • To regularly meet, target and connect with the A&D marketplace and End Users, supported by MillerKnoll ANZ Account Manager and dealer project consultants, to generate leads and opportunities.
  • Lead thought leadership initiatives, driving conversations around the "Design With Impact" philosophy to elevate MillerKnoll’s market position.
  • Involve specialist sales resources where relevant against specific opportunities.
  • Represent MillerKnoll at industry-specific engagements, strengthening the company’s presence and relationships.
  • Provide ergonomic expertise to support Market Representatives and Dealer Project Consultants.
  • Identify and develop growth opportunities in emerging verticals, including Education, Healthcare and Hospitality.
  • Provide accurate forecasting information for total volume sales by product group and detailed information on specific large projects. All reporting and items to be actioned in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Maintain good working relationships with local dealer personnel maintaining competence and commitment to MillerKnoll products.
  • Provide field training for dealer sales personnel in product and positional skills.
  • To liaise between the distributor and MK Manufacturing to ensure prompt solutions to any problems
  • Participate in induction training for new personnel and new product training.
  • To canvas business opportunities in person.  Identify, qualify and develop.
  • Any other tasks as needed, in line with the position.

Resource management

Financial:

  • Working to meet individual sales target and forecasts.
  • Ensuring all activity to drive sales and/or build relationships is cost-effective and results driven by managing a travel and entertainment budget, ensuring expenditures are planned and approved appropriately.

Human:

  • Direct report to Regional Sales Manger of MillerKnoll Australia and New Zealand.
  • Work alongside regional teams and brands.
  • Flexibility to allow for interstate and international travel requirements.

Person profile

Education and experience

:

  • Demonstrated understanding of how to build external relationships, generate interest and win sales.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to meet sales targets and deadlines.
  • At least 5 years of successful new business sales experience, preferably with a background in design-led or ergonomic sales.
  • A strong understanding of the Australia corporate real estate sector, national exposure.
  • Successful sales experience within a multinational organisation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in a business or design related field. 
  • Sales experience within furniture industry.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact at all levels within and outside the organization.
  • A team player who is highly self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed and to travel frequently throughout the region.
  • High proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce experience preferable.
  • Culturally aware, with an ability to navigate diverse business environments.
  • Methodical and hard-working.
  • Ambitious and energetic, with a drive to succeed.
  • Honest, with high levels of integrity.
  • Diplomatic and sensitive in handling complex situations.
  • Self-motivated, with excellent time management skills.

This role will be instrumental in driving MillerKnoll’s success in Australia through strategic dealer management, major project focus, and the development of strong relationships, all while managing resources effectively to ensure profitability and growth.
