We’re looking for a Manual QA Engineer with 5+ years of experience who loves consumer social software. As the latest member of the Quality Engineering team, you will own end-to-end testing of key Raya features and experiments. The ideal candidate brings a deep passion for quality and approaches testing with creativity and ownership. Working remotely from anywhere in the world, you’ll collaborate with our entire engineering organization to come up with testing strategies and plans, as well as monitoring app performance to ensure smooth delivery of new features and updates. You’ll have the ownership and accountability that comes with joining a fast-growing, well-funded startup.
 
A great candidate is excited to support the QA and Client Engineering team initiatives for Raya and Places, by Raya. Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance test coverage, generate test cases, analyze logs, or improve QA workflows is a plus. You are a diligent advocate for the consumer. Responsibilities

  • Participate in an agile development environment, including daily standups
  • Drive Quality Engineering efforts for internal and external product releases
  • Prioritize and advocate for top-tier user experiences
  • Design test strategy for existing and new features/experiments for both Raya and Places, by Raya
  • Drive incident prioritization 
  • Work hand-in-hand with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Client, and Server Engineering)
  • Collaborate on an as-needed basis with Data, Community, and Support teams
  • Participate in release processes for the entire company
  • Host and manage internal company test sessions and dogfooding
  • Assist the triage team with debugging and investigating support tickets

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in manual QA within modern software development environments, supporting scalable mobile applications
  • Experience navigating both the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Test Life Cycle (STLC)
  • Experience working within agile methodologies across all development phases
  • Proficient in Jira; experienced testing in sandbox environments, creating detailed test cases, using iOS Console, and maintaining up-to-date documentation 
  • Eagerness to embrace Raya's QA process, ethos and practices 
  • Excited about incorporating AI into QA best practices
  • Strong collaborative instincts, emphasizing open communication, transparency, and cross-team interaction
  • Industry experience testing applications for a variety of smartphones and tablets
  • Ability to isolate defects effectively, as well as provide specific conditions for reproducibility
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion for quality in the mobile space
