The big picture: Axios is a growth-stage startup dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We're hiring a Managing Director of Vertical Expertise, Axios Local Client Partnerships. 

Why it matters: Our Vertical Expertise team works with new and existing clients to grow Axios’ revenue through a broad set of solutions. You will oversee a team of Vertical Client Partners, helping them to become the best versions of themselves for Axios and their clients.  You will be helping develop partnerships with large clients and assisting them in reaching their goals through integrated media solutions. 

You will develop and maintain trusted, strategic relationships with agency and client partners.

The details: This is a high-energy role that requires superior communication skills, an ability to understand partner business priorities and develop creative solutions, and a proven ability to generate leads. Ideal candidates will also have the following skills:

  • 9+ years’ experience in sales, specifically in the digital media industry 
  • Established relationships with key agencies and brands
  • In-depth knowledge of digital media, online marketing technology, and Axios’ competitive landscape
  • Willingness to travel and attend social events and engagements during evening hours
  • Ability to oversee all aspects of daily operations for a team of client partners, including hiring, training, coaching and development, and performance management.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills and the willingness to proactively partner with Axios Brand Studio and events team

Starting salary for this role is in the range of $126,000 - $162,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation and benefits. Axios' compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.
