The Managing Director, Product (Head of Department/VP) is responsible for shaping and advancing the strategy, development, and performance of Energy Systems’ digital product portfolio supporting Transformational Trust and broader digital enablement across the energy value chain. 

This role is part of the Product organization within Digital & Transformation and is accountable for a portfolio of capabilities including AI Solutions, Data Services, Teamcenter, and Customer Success enablement. These capabilities establish a unified digital foundation that improves consistency, transparency, and efficiency across advisory workflows. 

This role supports the Product organization in evolving how DNV delivers advisory services, moving from project-based outputs toward more scalable, digital, and insight-driven products across the energy value chain. 

The product portfolio enables consistent, data-driven workflows, enhances speed and quality of delivery, and creates new opportunities to generate and extend customer value. 

Working in close partnership with Platform Engineering, advisory regions, and global business units including Renewable Certification and Digital & Data Solutions, this role fosters alignment, interoperability, and scalable delivery across systems and offerings. 

As the platform and product ecosystem matures, this role contributes to the evolution toward shared product capabilities, standardized components, and a cohesive approach to digital product innovation across Energy Systems.

This role can be based out of one of our DNV offices in Houston, TX; Austin, TX; Dallas, TX; Jersey City, NJ; Oakbrook, IL; Medford, MA; New York, NY; Oakland, CA; Seattle, WA. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.

What You’ll Do 

Strategic Platform Leadership 

  • Define and lead the vision, strategy, and roadmap for executing the digital platform transforming due-diligence and advisory processes across the energy value chain. 
  • Oversee the product organization responsible for translating strategy into a clear, actionable roadmap and delivery plan. 
  • Align platform direction with Energy Systems’ global priorities, innovation strategy, and customer needs. 
  • Direct cross-functional execution with disciplined prioritization and clear outcomes. 

Customer Value, Adoption & Enablement 

  • Develop the adoption and customer value model, incorporating structured feedback loops from customers, usage analytics, and domain experts. 
  • Equip internal teams with enablement materials, training, and support frameworks to ensure consistent, confident deployment. 
  • Maintain a human-centered approach to platform design and refinement. 

Commercialization & Market Positioning 

  • Define commercial models including pricing, licensing, packaging, and partnership structures that support sustainable growth. 
  • Collaborate with Global Key Account Management Organization, regional Business Development leads and Marketing and Communications teams to shape messaging, customer journeys, and go-to-market execution. 
  • Support regional teams in demonstrating measurable customer impact and strengthening market positioning. 

Technology, Data & Responsible Innovation 

  • Partner with engineering, AI, and data teams to translate technical and domain insight into scalable, insight-driven platform capabilities. 
  • Promote responsible AI use, integration frameworks, reusable digital components, and strong data governance. 
  • Define interoperability standards and shared digital elements that accelerate future innovation across offerings. 

Operational Excellence & Performance Management 

  • Establish a predictable operating rhythm focused on delivery quality, transparency, and continuous improvement. 
  • Set KPIs for engagement, performance, customer outcomes, and commercial progress. 
  • Strengthen operational alignment across product, engineering, customer enablement, and business teams. 

Innovation Alignment & External Influence 

  • Lead alignment of product-related innovation across Energy Systems to ensure a cohesive digital strategy and shared innovation foundations. 
  • Represent DNV’s digital direction in strategic customer engagements, partnerships, and industry forums.

**Benefits vary based on position, tenure, location, and employee election**

DNV provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. The actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. The range of starting pay for this role is $200,000- $300,000.

Qualifications

What is Required 

  • Master’s degree or equivalent senior experience in digital product leadership. 
  • Ten or more years leading platforms or SaaS products in complex global or technical environments. 
  • Proven success guiding cross-functional teams across software, AI, UX, data, and customer enablement. 
  • Experience integrating advanced analytics or AI into digital products responsibly and at scale. 
  • Strong communication and influencing skills in matrixed organizations. 
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening.

What is Preferred 

  • Experience across the energy value chain or adjacent technical sectors. 
  • Familiarity with due-diligence, advisory, or project evaluation processes. 
  • Track record leading platform strategy, commercialization, and enterprise innovation.
