The Manager, Training will prepare Orca Bio's teams for the U.S. launch of ORCA-T by designing and delivering training, overseeing onboarding, and coordinating meetings.
More than one million people in the United States today are fighting blood cancer. While a traditional allogeneic stem cell transplant has been the best hope for many, the transplant itself can prove fatal or lead to serious conditions, such as graft vs. host disease. Orca Bio is a late-stage biotechnology company redefining the transplant process by developing next-generation cell therapies with the goal of providing significantly better survival rates with dramatically fewer risks. With our purified, high-precision investigational cell therapies we hope to not only replace patients' blood and immune systems with healthy ones, but also restore their lives.
The Manager, Training will play a pivotal role in preparing Orca Bio’s organization for the U.S. launch of ORCA-T. This role is responsible for designing and delivering comprehensive training for field teams (Account Management, Payer Account Directors, Market Development, Medical Science Liaisons), overseeing onboarding and certification, coordinating regional and national meetings, and supporting key launch operations activities.
As a member of a lean launch readiness team, this role will stretch across training enablement, meeting execution, operational readiness, and cross-functional alignment—serving as a connective hub across Account Management, Marketing, Market Access, and Medical Affairs. The ideal candidate brings experience in high-stakes launches, strong facilitation and content development skills, and a roll-up-your-sleeves mindset to drive execution in a fast-paced, startup environment.
Job Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Training Enablement & Field Readiness
- Design and execute the ORCA-T launch training curriculum across disease state, product, customer engagement, institutional onboarding, and systems usage.
- Develop role-specific learning tracks for Account Managers, Payer Account Directors, Market Development, Medical Science Liaisons, and other field-facing support functions.
- Build and manage launch certification processes and assessment tools to ensure field team readiness prior to product availability.
- Deploy post-launch continuous learning modules based on performance trends and field feedback.
- Onboarding & Commercial Enablement
- Lead new hire onboarding for Account Managers and field personnel, including curriculum design, scheduling, and delivery.
- Partner with Account Management Operations and HR to align onboarding content with CRM tools, incentive compensation / bonus, call planning, and performance expectations.
- Ensure cross-functional onboarding content (e.g., Medical, Market Access, Order Management) is integrated and sequenced properly.
- National & Regional Meeting Planning
- Lead the strategic planning, content development, and execution of key launch meetings: POA, NSM, Launch Workshops, and ad hoc field meetings.
- Coordinate agendas, logistics, faculty preparation, speaker training, and post-meeting evaluations.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Medical, and Market Access teams to align content and ensure cohesive execution.
- Operational Support & Coordination
- Support operational readiness by coordinating delivery of training and communication on Orcalink, CRM, and other digital tools.
- Assist in the development of performance tools and job aids to support Account Manager engagement at high-priority treatment centers.
- Collaborate with field leadership on territory-level needs assessments and capability development planning.
- Cross-Functional Partnership
- Serve as a launch excellence liaison to Marketing, Access, and Medical Affairs for training content development and message alignment.
- Maintain ongoing field feedback loops to inform continuous improvement of training programs and launch execution tools.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 6–8 years of experience in biotech/pharma training or field operations.
- Experience supporting or leading product launches in complex markets (e.g., oncology, transplant, cell therapy).
- Strong background in instructional design, meeting planning, and adult learning principles.
- Effective communicator with demonstrated ability to collaborate across commercial and medical functions.
- Comfortable working in high-growth, lean team environments with ambiguous or rapidly evolving needs.
Travel
- Role preferred to be based in Sacramento or Menlo Park, CA, or with travel to company offices 1x/week per month.
- Up to 30% domestic travel for onboarding, national meetings, and field training support, etc.
