Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Specialty Products Operations is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing niche operational functions tied directly to Zelis’ specialty product offerings. This leader ensures exceptional operational execution across areas such as lockbox reconciliation, sworn statements, 1099 processing, ERA/EDI support, and clearinghouse operations.
In addition to managing daily operations, this role partners closely with Product teams to align workflows, improve capabilities, and drive continuous enhancement of the specialty product ecosystem. The ideal candidate is a problem solver, a humble learner, and a collaborative leader who can create clarity in complex environments and elevate the experience for clients, partners, and internal teams

What you'll do:

 

Specialty Products Leadership 

  • Lead and develop teams responsible for specialized operational services, including: 

  • Lockbox Reconciliation Operations: Ensure timely and accurate financial reconciliations and posting activities. 

  • Sworn Statement Support: Coordinate preparation, validation, and delivery of sworn statements in compliance with regulatory and client requirements. 

  • 1099 Tax Services Support: Oversee tax-related transaction processing, inquiry resolution, and service cycle management. 

  • EDI/ERA Support: Provide oversight of ERA processing, troubleshooting workflows, and operational alignment supporting product performance. 

  • Monitor performance metrics and use data to drive quality, efficiency, and scalability. 

  • Identifying root causes and leading continuous improvement initiatives across teams and product workflows. 

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOPs, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. 

  • Own and manage the Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) process for the team, ensuring compliant purchasing, invoicing, and payment operations. 

  

Clearinghouse Operations & Partner Management 

  • Serve as the primary operational liaison for clearinghouse partners, managing escalations, inquiries, and overall relationship health. 

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve issues impacting transaction flow, data integrity, or service delivery. 

  • Maintain accurate documentation of clearinghouse processes, SLAs, and escalation protocols. 

  • Ensure strong alignment between operational needs and product strategies by engaging with Product, Technology, and Client-facing teams. 

 

Required Skills and Competencies 

  • Experience in healthcare payment operations, revenue management, financial services, or similar operational environments. 

  • Strong understanding of EDI transactions, particularly Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) files. 

  • Familiarity with lockbox operations, tax services (including 1099 processing), and sworn statement protocols preferred. 

  

Leadership & Behavioral Capabilities 

  • Demonstrated success leading specialized operational teams and managing complex, cross-functional relationships. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to bring clarity to ambiguous situations and drive structured, sustainable solutions. 

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build trust across teams. 

  • Solutions-oriented mindset with a continuous improvement approach. 

  • High degree of ownership, accountability, and commitment to developing people and improving processes. 

What you'll bring to Zelis:  

  • Proven experience in healthcare payment operations, revenue management, or financial services. 

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in a customer management role required.

  • 5 + years' experience in a people leadership role.

  • Strong understanding of EDI transactions, particularly Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) files. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead specialized support teams and manage cross-functional relationships. 

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. 

  • Familiarity with lockbox operations, tax services, and sworn statement protocols is preferred.

Location and Workplace Flexibility

We have offices in Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Morristown NJ, Plano TX, St. Louis MO, St. Petersburg FL, and Hyderabad, India. We foster a hybrid and remote friendly culture, and all our employee's work locations are based on the needs of the position and determined by the Leadership team. In-office work and activities, if applicable, vary based on the work and team objectives in accordance with Company policies.

Base Salary Range

$105,000.00 - $140,000.00

At Zelis we are committed to providing fair and equitable compensation packages. The base salary range allows us to make an offer that considers multiple individualized factors, including experience, education, qualifications, as well as job-related and industry-related knowledge and skills, etc. Base pay is just one part of our Total Rewards package, which may also include discretionary bonus plans, commissions, or other incentives depending on the role.
