Your Impact at LILA

Lila is seeking a Manager / Senior Manager, Capital Equipment Accounting to own the accounting for the Company's rapidly growing base of capital assets—the laboratory equipment and facilities buildouts, among other things, that power Lila's operations. As we scale, you will help ensure the operational scalability and financial accuracy of the asset base that underpins our success.

You will own the end-to-end capex function, including managing the fixed assets and leased ROU assets lifecycle—from acquisition through capitalization, depreciation, impairment, retirement, and audit—working closely with Procurement, Facilities, Lab Operations, and Finance. You will apply deep technical accounting expertise under ASC 360 and ASC 842 and build the processes, controls, and systems that support this function.

What You'll Own

Fixed Asset & Leased Equipment Accounting

  • Own end-to-end capex accounting under ASC 360 from timely placement in service, to depreciation, transfers, disposals, and impairments.
  • Support accounting for finance leases under ASC 842, including commencement, renewals, modifications, and related leasehold improvements.
  • Maintain accurate asset records and lease inventories.
  • Assist with technical accounting analyses related to capital assets, lease arrangements, and complex capital projects.
  • Partner with Facilities and Procurement to monitor leasehold improvement projects and capital construction activities.
  • Manage the monthly fixed asset and leased equipment close process and prepare supporting journal entries, account reconciliations, rollforwards, and flux analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.

Operations, Governance, & Controls

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls related to fixed assets and capital expenditures.
  • Assist with asset tracking, tagging, and periodic physical inventories and ensure consistency of data across ERP, procurement, and asset management systems.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audit requests related to fixed assets, leases, and capital projects.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or industry experience in a capital-intensive environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 360 (property, plant, and equipment) and ASC 842 (leases).
  • Hands-on experience owning a significant capex portfolio in a high-growth environment.
  • Experience supporting laboratory, manufacturing, research, or facility-intensive operations.
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and strong analytical skills, including comfort working with large, complex datasets.
  • A track record of building scalable processes and controls in fast-moving environments.
  • Ability to translate technical accounting concepts into business implications for non-finance stakeholders and to influence cross-functional partners.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with CIP and capital project accounting for laboratory or facilities buildouts.
  • Experience with fixed asset subledgers or asset management systems at scale, including barcode, QR, or RFID tracking.
  • Background in Big 4 accounting or advisory combined with industry experience.
  • SQL or similar skills for querying accounting and operational data.
  • Experience mentoring junior accounting professionals.
  • Experience applying AI tools to accounting processes, memo drafting, or close automation.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and driving results in a rapidly changing environment.
