The purpose of this position is to lead and set strategic direction in the areas of safety, environmental and risk reduction for Ahold Delhaize USA supporting the Stop & Shop brand. This position will be responsible and accountable for the design, oversight and delivery of safety improvements that positively impact and reduce the exposure related to associate and customer injuries.
Partner with Senior Brand Leadership to ensure customer satisfaction & brand risk reduction through education and verification of designated safety standards and procedures. Assess, determine and direct continuous improvements and ensure a proactive safety operational plan through training, coaching, auditing and mentoring activities.
Position provides subject matter expertise in safety and environmental risks. This position manages and directs a team of safety specialists supporting Stop & Shop.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Direct all aspects of safety within the Stop & Shop brand including but not limited to leading long-term safety and regulatory compliance initiatives with a focus on continuous improvement, prevention, KPIs & metrics, interpretation of regulatory standards and legislation and identification of industry trends and best practices.
  • Direct and support the Safety Specialists and brand support team. Serve as 'lead' safety expert within the Brand
  • Act as the Brand lead and liaison with regulatory agencies. Develop contacts and relations with officials responsible for environmental, health & safety regulation enforcement (OSHA). Actively participate and assume leadership roles in local regulatory and trade associations educate and be advocate for company safety standard practices/policies/programs.
  • Conduct on-going problem-solving based on an objective assessment of the facts or circumstances while using collaborative work methods to achieve consensus. Advise leadership and business partners regarding safety risks within the brand.
  • Integrate essential aspects of injury prevention and compliance into the execution of brand strategy.
  • Partner with all business areas to identify the best equipment, process, workflow, work environment and facility decisions which impact associate and customer safety.
  • Create and utilize performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of operating systems and safety programs.
  • Maintain effective communication with and support to operations that will ensure agreement on priorities and desired results.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in environmental science, physical sciences, industrial safety management or a relevant field.
  • CSP - Certified Safety Professional designation

IL/MA/MD/NY Salary Range: $96,983 - $145,475
Salary Range: $125,200 - $187,800
Actual compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on their unique qualifications and experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Final compensation decisions will be made in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
