Under guidance from the Vice President, Domestic Learning Sales, the Manager, Public Sales for Gale is responsible for mentoring and developing the assigned sales teams to drive sales and performance to ensure sales goals are consistently reached. Additionally, this function, creates, manages and reports results on sales metrics, programs, and forecasting. This position provides leadership and strategic direction for assigned teams of sales representatives with added dimensions of responsibility working within the sales organization.

What you'll do here:

  • Meet/exceed sales goals by providing leadership and guidance on territory sales plans.

  • Hire, train, develop, evaluate and provide leadership to the sales team.

  • Direct sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.

  • Assign sales territory and account responsibilities.

  • Represent Gale at trade shows and other customer facing events.

  • Collaborate with sales representatives and others to deliver sales presentations to key clients as requested and appropriate.

  • Travel to meet with key clients, helping your team advance relationships, negotiate, adn close.

  • Work with the Vice President, Domestic Learning Sales to analyze and control expenditures of team to conform to departmental budgetary targets.

  • Support and supplement ongoing product/sales skills training programs; monitor, evaluate and advance skill levels of entire sales team.

  • Monitor and evaluate the activities and products of Gale competitors in order to build territory strategy.

  • Participate on marketing/product development for cross functional team collaboration and provide customer perspective.

  • Facilitate and play key role at sales meetings and conferences.

  • Conduct coaching sessions for assigned sales staff to advance performance and development

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Vice President, Domestic Learning Sales.

Skills you will need here:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required.

  • Eight years sales experience with a minimum 3 years in sales management.

  • Experience and/or demonstrated aptitude for working with both inside and field sales teams.

  • Documented track record of meeting/exceeding sales goals as a manager.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Must possess validated supervisory and leadership skills including team development and sales coaching.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential.

  • Familiarity with technology and desktop programs is necessary, as well as knowledge of electronic references, and technology issues in the marketplace.

  • Must possess a sound understanding and expertise in business-to-business professional selling techniques using the telephone and face-to-face.

  • Must have strong working knowledge of financial procedures and controls, and strong networking and negotiating skills.

  • Analytical and tactical planning skills are crucial.

  • The travel required for this position can vary between 25-50%.

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.  Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.

$88,600.00 - $120,000.00 USD
