We’re a simple-to-use photo documentation and productivity app for contractors of all commercial and home services industries. Packed with intuitive functionality, CompanyCam facilitates unparalleled communication and accountability across a contractor’s entire business. We’re committed to providing a consumer-grade, game-changing experience that helps our users build trust within their company and with their customers.
But don’t let that corporate description fool you—the people behind our buttoned-up product are laid-back (but hardworking), genuine, and kickass, and you could be one of them!
As the Manager, Product Design, you’ll guide a team of designers through the rewarding (and sometimes messy) work of improving how construction pros do their jobs. You’ll mentor designers in both craft and career, provide clear direction, and cultivate an environment where thoughtful, high-quality design can thrive. You’ll play a key role in observing and shaping the product experience—spotting opportunities and connecting designers across teams to tackle tough experience problems. You’ll collaborate closely with peers in product and engineering but keep your focus on quality, clarity, and momentum in the design practice.
Remote: Candidates must permanently and currently reside in the United States. Employees are not required to work in the office or relocate to Lincoln, Nebraska, for this opportunity. Employees are encouraged to come hang at headquarters for up to 10 days per calendar year on CompanyCam’s dime.
What We Care AboutGreat Managers Multiply Impact: We believe the best managers aren’t bottlenecks—they’re amplifiers. As a Product Design Manager, you won’t just review work—you’ll create an environment where designers grow in confidence, get clarity, and deliver thoughtful, user-centered experiences that solve real problems.
Design is a System, Not a Silo: We don’t think about design in isolation. We expect our managers to see across product boundaries, connect people and problems, and raise the bar for how we solve things as a team.
Craft, Coaching, and Clarity: Our design managers bring craft sensibility, but they focus most on people and process. They coach, unblock, and guide—not just toward better UI, but toward better outcomes. They make sure we’re solving the right problems and building momentum along the way.
AI as an Accelerator: We’re exploring how AI tools can reduce toil, unlock new ideas, and improve the way we support contractors in the field. We expect our design managers to be curious and excited to bring these tools into practice—both in what we design and how we work.
About The Product Design TeamWe’re a small but mighty team of designers focused on bringing clarity to complexity. We care deeply about our craft, but just as much about how our work fits into the big picture. Our team is collaborative, kind, fast-moving, and allergic to ego.
We have 7 core principles.
- Customer obsessed: We keep user needs and experiences at the forefront of every design decision we make.
- Data-driven decision-makers: We validate our design choices with user research and usability data, ensuring our solutions are grounded in evidence rather than assumptions.
- Courageous: We show up and advocate for users, push for better design solutions, and don't avoid uncomfortable conversations about scope, feasibility, or direction.
- Coachable: We know we've got blind spots, so we actively seek design critique and feedback on how to grow our craft.
- Collaborative: We build context together and work seamlessly within product trios, co-creating solutions with PMs and engineers rather than designing in isolation.
- Lead through Influence: We guide design strategy and advocate for design quality across our teams. We step up to influence through compelling design rationale and clear communication.
- Culture Setters: We establish design practices and standards that elevate our work. Through our craft and collaboration, we model the design behaviors we want to see organization-wide.
- Coach a group of designers through 1:1s, feedback, and critique—helping them sharpen their craft, grow their influence, and make strong, clear decisions
- Partner with PMs and engineers to ensure designers have the context they need to succeed
- Identify experience-level problems and coordinate the right people to fix them
- Evolve team rituals, documentation, and standards to improve how we work and ship
- Champion the thoughtful use of AI tools to improve workflows, generate insight, or improve the experience for our customers
