ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to help support our efforts in solar preconstruction and project execution. The Preconstruction Manager will be instrumental in the pre-subcontract award phase, ensuring that projects are well-planned, feasible, and aligned with our sustainability goals. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and a thorough understanding of the solar energy industry.

  • Ensure that feasibility criteria are met for potential solar projects prior to Preconstruction engagement. Review project risk status of development items that may impact construction costs and develop strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Work closely with various internal teams to evaluate and understand site conditions, client goals, and other essential deal elements. Review drawings and specifications, and have a clear understanding of the scope of work and schedule expectations.
  • Produce cost estimates and establish budgets for PV and battery storage projects that highlight key assumptions, exclusions, and other deal elements. Analyze cost drivers, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure budgets align with project objectives.
  • Procurement coordination: Collaborate with Pivot's procurement team to ensure equipment costs are accurately incorporated into the project budget.
  • Cost Tracking and Reporting: Monitor project costs throughout the preconstruction phase. Provide regular cost-tracking reports and updates to senior management.
  • Coordinate subcontractor engagement, prequalification, and review of subcontractor financials with the CFO.
  • Create and publish subcontractor RFQs and RFPs.
  • Coordinate subcontractor RFP sharing with prospective subcontractor partners to ensure that subcontractor bids are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Manage engagement with subcontractor partners during the preconstruction phase, including regular communications with subcontractors regarding project scope, costs, and schedule. This includes coordinating descope meetings with subcontractors to review bid sheets, ensure the accuracy of costs/contingency, and eliminate scope gaps.
  • Participate in internal estimate review meetings, subcontractor selection process, and constructability reviews.
  • Manage RFI process, including value engineering feedback/alternates to improve project economics.
  • Coordinate with the Preconstruction Team and Project Management on subcontractor selection.
  • In collaboration with Legal, subcontractor partners, and other Preconstruction team members, review and provide comments on master subcontract agreements and other contracts to ensure alignment with the owner contract documents.
  • Support the Preconstruction team with preconstruction deliverables and preconstruction timeline optimization.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in estimating, cost analysis, and/or project management of commercial solar energy systems
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in contract review & management
