Primary Purpose
The learning and development lead oversees the learning and development team and supports the strategic development of a broad-based development framework to enhance organizational learning and capabilities across Ahold Delhaize USA (ADUSA). They collaborate with partners across the business and the broader Human Resources team to prioritize associate and team learning needs and the strategy for learning and development programs and practices that support growth and performance for the associate and the business.
Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC, Quincy, MA, Chicago, IL Carlisle, PA, and Scarborough, ME.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recommends, develops and implements learning strategies to address leadership, management, and technical skills training to close gaps in skills application and ensure that associates have the tools they need to productively perform their jobs.
  • Oversees the formulations of training learning objectives, develops training program outlines, and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, meetings, e-learning and workshops.
  • Selects and develops learning aids such as: training handbooks, facilitator guides, participant guides, presentation slides, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference documents.
  • Leads and manages the intake process and content development of learning programs for ADUSA.
  • Assesses associates to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training.
  • Pilots and executes the development of management training programs for the organization's people managers.
  • Designs strategies and tools that are leveraged by the business, to assess and identify capability/skill gaps and enables the team to build learning plans to address.
  • Identifies, selects, evaluates and manages learning vendor partnerships and processes.
  • Works directly with leadership and through HR Business partner teams to understand management's perspective on specific work situations requiring associates to better understand changes in their role, policies, best practices, procedures, regulations, and/or technologies.
  • Creates a culture of continuous development and also monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of learning and development programs.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to the learning team in the areas of instructional design, adult learning theory, presentation & delivery skills, technical content and training evaluation methods.
  • Responsible for motivating the team and facilitating teamwork across the team. Provides coaching to the team to accelerate their development and manage capacity. Creates an environment that promotes positive communication, encourages bonding of team members, and demonstrates flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or Learning & Organizational Development, or in related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience within adult learning methodologies (ADDIE and Gagne), curricula creation, leadership development, and career development.
  • Knowledge of training methods, processes and procedures; able to create effective training programs for the adult learner.
  • 3+ years of experience leading others and working collaboratively across functions.
  • Strong experience managing multiple, concurrent learning projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of leadership and peers.
  • Strong influencing and consulting skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical strategic thinking, negotiating skills, and a thorough understanding of available technologies that assist production throughput.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Self-directed with strong organizational skills.
  • Established experience as an instructional design manager and strategic systems thinker.
  • Ability to make decisions requiring complex problem solving.
  • Proven design, development, implementation, and evaluation skills with a strong project management approach.
  • Self-motivated to drive business objectives and department timelines.
  • Highly collaborative, able to work with a variety of personalities and roles, thrives in a high performing, creative environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Human Resources or a directly related field
  • 10+ years' experience; 5+ years of experience leading others, preferably within Learning function
  • Significant learning program creation and execution experience with measurable results
  • Experienced in change management methodologies & principles.
