The Private Brand Wine Sourcing Manager leads the strategic planning, sourcing, and cross‑banner execution of the Private Label Wine category across Ahold Delhaize USA's retail brands. This role builds a best‑in‑class assortment-leveraging exclusive imports, domestic sourcing, and private brand innovation-while ensuring full regulatory compliance, supply chain continuity, cost competitiveness, and customer satisfaction.
The position requires deep wine industry expertise and strong commercial acumen to develop and maintain relationships with wineries, importers, distributors, and internal stakeholders. This leader drives financial performance, strengthens supplier partnerships, and delivers differentiated private brand offerings that support Ahold Delhaize USA's long‑term strategy.
***Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC, Quincy, MA, Carlisle, PA, Scarborough, ME, Hyattsville.
Essential job functions:
  • Develop and lead the long‑term sourcing strategy for the wine category across all U.S. brands.
  • Curate a high‑performing wine portfolio aligned with customer needs, brand strategies, and emerging trends.
  • Partner with Category Managers to align nationwide and regional assortments, pricing, promotions, and innovation.
  • Identify and develop exclusive SKUs, premium offerings, and private brand innovation.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Wine Private Brand sourcing across the business.
  • Source wines from key domestic and international regions; foster direct relationships with wineries, bottlers, and importers.
  • Oversee international import operations including logistics, customs, and regulatory compliance.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts and cost structures to deliver long‑term value.
  • Manage supplier performance using KPIs, scorecards, and regular reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local alcohol regulations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Wine Sourcing Analyst, fostering continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with Category Management, Marketing, and Store Operations to enable execution and results.
  • Use customer insights and analytics to inform assortment decisions.
  • Build annual targets for sales, margin, inventory turns, and private brand penetration.
  • Guide promotional and pricing execution to meet financial goals.
  • Monitor trends and competitor activity to proactively adjust strategies.
  • Manage all legal documentation including NDAs, MSAs, award letters, and discontinuation notices.
  • Operate autonomously within the ADUSA bill of authority and lead process improvements.
  • Support onboarding, training, and knowledge transfer for new team members.

Qualifications:
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis until the end of their appointment
  • 8+ years of experience in wine category management, sourcing, or importing within retail or wholesale.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in vendor or supplier relationship management.
  • Deep knowledge of global wine regions, industry trends, and the U.S. alcohol distribution system.
  • Proven success in international sourcing, negotiation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and matrixed project management experience.
  • WSET, Sommelier, or equivalent wine education preferred.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills; proficiency in Power BI, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, balance priorities, and independently solve problems.
  • Experience in conflict management and resolution.
  • Travel required: 10-20%.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • Experience in grocery retail/category management. Familiarity with both ADUSA existing systems, processes, and ways of working.

ME/NC/PA/SC Salary Range: $108,880 - $163,320
IL/MA/MD/NY Salary Range: $125,200 - $187,800
