The HR Manager – Total Rewards & Talent Support is a senior, hands-on HR leader responsible for the strategy, design, and execution of the Company’s compensation, benefits, and total rewards programs. This role ensures programs are competitive, equitable, compliant, and aligned with business and financial objectives.
In addition to leading Total Rewards, this role provides targeted recruitment and talent support, partnering with leaders to attract, assess, and close high-quality talent while ensuring offers and hiring decisions align with compensation philosophy and internal equity.
This position requires deep technical expertise, strong analytical capability, and the ability to influence senior leaders through data-driven recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
Compensation & Total Rewards (Primary Focus)
- Own and continuously evolve the Company’s compensation philosophy, salary structures, and incentive programs.
- Lead job architecture, job leveling, and market pricing using reputable survey data (e.g., CompAnalyst, Radford, Mercer, WTW).
- Partner with Finance and leadership on annual merit, bonus, and promotion cycles, ensuring budget discipline and internal equity.
- Conduct pay equity analysis, wage audits, and compliance reviews (FLSA, pay transparency, state and local wage laws).
- Advise leaders on compensation decisions related to offers, promotions, retention, and restructuring.
- Develop executive-ready compensation models, dashboards, and decision materials.
Benefits Strategy & Administration
- Oversee health and welfare programs, retirement plans (401(k)), wellness initiatives, and leave programs.
- Manage broker and vendor relationships; lead annual renewals and cost modeling.
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and Massachusetts-specific regulations.
- Lead annual open enrollment and employee education, ensuring clear and effective communication.
- Evaluate benefit competitiveness and recommend enhancements aligned with workforce demographics and engagement goals.
Recruitment & Talent Support
- Partner with hiring managers and Talent Acquisition on workforce planning and hiring strategy.
- Provide compensation guidance for new hires, including market positioning, offer development, and approval recommendations.
- Support recruitment efforts for critical and hard-to-fill roles through interview participation, candidate assessment, and closing support.
- Ensure hiring decisions align with internal equity, compensation structures, and long-term talent strategy.
- Assist with onboarding planning for leadership and key hires to ensure a strong employee experience.
HR Analytics, Systems & Governance
- Leverage HRIS and reporting tools (e.g., UKG/UltiPro, Workday, ADP) to manage compensation and benefits data.
- Develop and maintain dashboards related to labor costs, headcount, total rewards spend, and hiring metrics.
- Support audits, policy development, and governance related to compensation, benefits, and hiring practices.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and risk mitigation across Total Rewards programs.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
- 7–10+ years of progressive HR experience with deep specialization in Compensation & Benefits.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment, wage, and benefits regulations.
- Proven experience designing and managing salary structures, incentive plans, and benefits programs.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills; ability to model scenarios and interpret market data.
- Experience supporting senior leaders and influencing compensation-related decisions.
Preferred Qualification
- Master’s degree or certifications (CCP, CBP, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR).
- Experience supporting multi-state or global organizations.
- Experience with pay transparency initiatives and workforce cost modeling.
