Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Manager of Global Payroll & Compliance to own payroll accounting, strengthen internal controls, and ensure compliance across payroll, tax, benefits, and corporate filings. This role plays a critical role in maintaining financial integrity, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance as the business scales across multiple states and globally.
This individual will also support the transition from a PEO model to a broker-led, self-insured benefits structure, ensuring accurate financial management, compliance, and operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Controls
- Ensure accuracy across payroll systems (e.g., Rippling) and global providers such as Remote
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and documentation
- Support internal and external audits related to payroll
Tax, Compliance & Filings
- Oversee payroll tax filings and compliance (federal, state, and local)
- Manage sales tax compliance, including nexus tracking, filings, and audit readiness
- Own corporate filings, entity registrations, and annual compliance requirements
- Partner with Legal and Finance to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
Multi-State Registration & Compliance
- Manage multi-state registrations, including SUI, SIT, and state/local withholding accounts
- Ensure registrations are completed prior to first employee payroll in new states
- Maintain compliance with ongoing state and local filing requirements and deadlines
- Monitor nexus triggers related to hiring footprint and business activity
- Maintain centralized tracking of registrations, filings, and compliance deadlines
Benefits & Total Rewards (Accounting Lens)
- Support transition from PEO to broker-led and self-insured benefits model
- Partner with FP&A on financial modeling for benefits (cost projections, accruals, and variance analysis)
- Partner with brokers and People & Culture on renewals, plan design, and contributions
- Ensure accurate payroll deductions and financial reporting of benefits
Global Payroll & Compliance
- Coordinate global payroll and compliance through providers such as Remote
- Ensure alignment between global payroll, tax compliance, and local regulations
- Partner with Finance and Legal on international expansion requirements
What Success Looks Like
- Accurate, timely payroll with clean reconciliations and no surprises
- Strong internal controls and audit-ready documentation
- No missed filings, penalties, or compliance gaps
- Clear visibility into payroll, tax, and benefits-related spend
- Smooth transition from PEO to self-insured model
- 5+ years of global payroll and compliance experience in a growing SaaS company
- Deep understanding of payroll controls, reconciliations, and audit processes
- Experience with multi-state payroll tax compliance and registrations
- Exposure to sales tax, corporate filings, and compliance requirements
- Experience supporting benefits accounting and renewals
- Familiarity with systems such as Rippling and global payroll providers (e.g., Remote)
