About the Role
As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will drive strategic project initiatives to completion while building and mentoring multiple engineering teams. You will work closely with other Engineering, product, and client services teams to deliver value-driving solutions. The team will be fast-paced. As a leader, you will focus on cultivating a team-culture that can operate with a healthy sense of urgency while maturing our engineering architectures and processes. Senior Managers are responsible for guiding multiple engineering teams, mentoring engineering talent, and owning delivery of key business initiatives. You will play a strategic role in aligning engineering operations with company goals, driving process maturity, and supporting the professional growth of engineers and emerging leaders.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Development
● Lead and grow multiple high-performing engineering teams, with a focus on career development, performance management, and employee satisfaction.
● Provide clear, actionable feedback and coaching that helps engineers and leads reach their potential.
● Foster a culture of mentorship, inclusion, and continuous learning across all levels of the team.
● Build trust through transparent leadership, direct feedback, and an empathetic approach to managing people.
Technical & Domain Expertise
● Leverage deep experience in FinTech and software engineering to guide strategic decisions and solve domain-specific challenges.
● Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices, introducing new techniques that improve team productivity and product quality.
● Anticipate future needs of the organization and evolve the software development process accordingly.
Project & Delivery Ownership
● Oversee the successful execution of complex, high-impact projects with multiple dependencies and stakeholders.
● Manage risk through thoughtful contingency planning and proactive communication.
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure clear alignment between business goals, product direction, and technical execution.
● Hold teams accountable to high standards of quality, delivery, and process excellence.
Organizational Impact
● Drive alignment across multiple engineering teams, creating clarity and cohesion even when goals differ across teams.
● Take ownership of engineering results—measured through on-time delivery, team productivity, and leadership development.
● Guide collaboration and problem-solving across a broad stakeholder landscape, influencing outcomes at the department and company level.
● Lead by example in pursuing special initiatives, innovations, or programs that align to the organization's strategic direction.
Operational & Process Excellence
● Identify and implement process improvements that enhance team efficiency and developer experience.
● Ensure teams adopt a layered approach to security, meet compliance standards, and incorporate secure development practices.
● Apply quality assurance best practices to improve product stability and reliability.
● Drive operational excellence through automation, tooling, and scalable practices that support sustained team growth.
Required Qualifications
● 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including 4+ years in leadership roles managing engineering managers and/or large teams.
● Demonstrated success managing performance, mentoring direct reports, and growing engineering leaders.
● Deep domain knowledge of FinTech, banking, or credit-related industries and associated security/regulatory environments.
● Proven experience delivering complex software systems in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
● Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple teams with different goals and maturity levels.
● Expertise in software lifecycle management, agile processes, and continuous delivery. Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Experience
● Leading engineering teams at scale (20+ engineers across multiple teams).
● Cross-functional leadership with Product, Design, Security, and Compliance stakeholders.
● Building and evolving operational metrics, OKRs, and engineering KPIs.
● Passion for improving team culture, process maturity, and innovation practices.
Base salary is $159,000-212,000 annually. Individual pay is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, and other job-related reasons.
