We are seeking a Manager, Engineering to join our team. This is a hybrid opportunity based out of our Waltham, MA office.
Job Summary
The Manager, Engineering will lead a software development team building Imprivata's next-generation cloud-based identity and access management platform. The team is responsible for the architecture, design, and development of frontend web applications, supporting backend services, and endpoint agents for a multi-tenant SaaS authentication and access management solution used by over 1 million healthcare users daily. This player-coach role combines hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities, including design, project planning, staffing, agile delivery management, and guiding the development team through complex technical challenges. The ideal candidate is passionate about building scalable, high-performance applications and will play a key role in advancing the shared platform services that power the next generation of Imprivata products.

This position offers a total compensation range of $194,700 to $205,700.00 (inclusive of base salary and variable compensation, such as bonuses and incentives). In addition, more information about Imprivata's benefit offerings can be found here. This range represents the high and low end of Imprivata's compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, such as a candidate's location, skills, experience, and qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver the scheduled releases, functionality and updates on expected schedule with scope as determined in partnership with Product and Release Management.
- Responsible for engineering leadership on one or more scrum teams. This includes active participation in architecture & design, technical leadership, problem solving, and code reviews.
- Work closely with Product Management to effectively plan and execute work.
- Clearly communicate product ideas, requirements, and business plans to all levels of the organization.
- Manage several (8-12) on/offshore software engineers across 2 teams who work in our Waltham office or workforce partner development locations.
- Manage software engineering resource assignment and allocation.
- Organize and coordinate activities with other dev managers, architects, leads, and senior management.
- Drive development best practices and identify areas for continuous improvement.
- Oversee the development of Continuous Integration pipeline that exercises a strong commitment to quality improvement.
- Recruit and retain top talent. Coach and mentor engineers.
- Collaborate with Sustaining and Customer Support organizations.
- Other duties as assigned and required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or in a related discipline.
- 7+ years of software development experience in designing and building enterprise applications.
- 1-3 years in a software engineering management or dev lead capacity.
- Cloud-based application development experience implementing end-user workflows.
- Working knowledge of Java, JSON, RESTful Web APIs, JDBC, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, and the Linux environment.
- Working knowledge of Java open source frameworks (e.g. Play, Spring, Hibernate).
- C++ development and debugging skills is a bonus.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs or SDKs into an enterprise product a plus.
- Strong proven design skills with the ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with high expectations.
- Solid experience with the full software development life cycle and a proven track record in successfully bringing products to market.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interact well with both internal teams and external customers and partners.
- Ability to work primarily in Eastern Standard time-zone, ability to work in Waltham MA preferred.
