About Attain

Built for consumers and companies, alike. In a world driven by data, we believe consumers and businesses can coexist. Our founders had a vision to empower consumers to leverage their greatest asset—their data—in exchange for modern financial services. Built with this vision in mind, our platform allows consumers to access savings tools, earned wages and rewards without cost or hidden fees. In exchange, they give permission to use their real-time data for research, insights and targeted advertising.

At Attain, your contribution will help us build a more equitable and efficient data sharing ecosystem—whether helping consumers access modern financial services or businesses leverage data to achieve better outcomes. You'll have the opportunity to work directly with hands-on leaders and mission-driven individuals everyday.

About the Role

We're hiring a Manager/Director of Strategic Finance to lead our most important financial and operational initiatives. You'll partner closely with the VP of Strategic Finance and executive team to drive financial planning, business forecasting, scenario analysis, and strategic initiatives around growth, capital allocation, and value creation.

This is a role for someone who combines financial acumen with strategic thinking and excellent cross-functional influence. You'll own the financial frameworks and analysis that guide company strategy—from unit economics and KPI management to capital planning and M&A evaluation. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to the business, translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that shape strategy.

You're equally comfortable building sophisticated financial models, presenting to the board, and working across product, operations, and go-to-market teams. You have strong judgment about what matters, and you can cut through complexity to find the insights that drive decisions.

This position will be based out of our Chicago, IL office and work in-person (4-days per week in office).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in strategic finance, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or management consulting
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, valuation, and analysis of large, complex data sets
  • Experience with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) or budget/forecast management
  • Expert-level capabilities in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong experience presenting financial information to executives and board members
  • Background evaluating and executing on strategic initiatives (M&A, new market entry, capital allocation, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with ability to synthesize data into clear recommendations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with ability to distill complex topics for different audiences
  • Ability to operate with high degree of tact and diplomacy in a fast-paced, politically nuanced environment
  • Comfortable managing ambiguity and taking ownership of projects with limited oversight

What a Typical Week Might Look Like

  • Lead strategic finance projects around annual budgeting, long-term forecasting, capital planning, and business case development
  • Partner with business leaders across the organization to evaluate ROI, financial impact, and strategic fit of major initiatives
  • Build and evolve unit economic frameworks and KPI dashboards to drive continuous improvement and inform business decisions
  • Present financial analysis and recommendations to executive team and board members
  • Identify analytical gaps and build new financial frameworks or models to address business questions
  • Collaborate with Finance, Product, Operations, and commercial teams on projects spanning pricing, product economics, market expansion, and M&A
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders including investors, advisors, and potential capital partners
  • Contribute to board materials, fundraising materials, and investor communications

At the End of Your First Year, You'll Have Helped Us

  • Established financial frameworks and dashboards that give the business clear visibility into unit economics, product profitability, and performance trends across the company
  • Led strategic initiatives that inform major company decisions (budget, capital allocation, market entry, M&A) with crisp financial analysis and recommendations
  • Become a trusted strategic advisor to the VP of Strategic Finance, CFO, and executive team on key business decisions
  • Elevated the finance function's credibility and influence across the organization through clear communication and actionable insights
  • Developed a pipeline of financial analysis capabilities that support the board and investor relationships

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
