Description

Ganymede is building a modern cloud platform for the sciences, with a mission of improving the world through better healthcare outcomes. We believe that the highest leverage approach to speed up science is through better software and data connectivity.

As the first manager of our Business Development team, you’ll spearhead our efforts to source new clients, build out our lead generation strategy, and drive marketing.

  • Your ultimate responsibility will be to drive the overall volume of lead generation of the company.
  • As the Business Development team manager, you’ll apply your background to help structure our lead generation process and business development team itself, including advising and mentoring more junior SDRs and BDAs (Business Development Associates). Since you’ll be the first manager of the team in a rapidly growing environment, this will be a very high-impact approach.
  • You’ll become an expert at recognizing who our platform can help and why, evangelizing the benefits of well-designed software in biotech, and enabling us to grow. As part of this effort you will need to travel to conferences and client sites to build in-person relationships and deeply understand scientists’ workflows. You’ll also play an important role in our marketing, helping to ideate and push on our marketing strategy to further accelerate lead generation.
  • About half your time will be spent on individual work such as cold outbound and inside sales lead generation. You’ll have to strategize and execute on efforts tied into marketing such as webinars and live events, carefully source clients and build profiles of the market, and work with the account executive team to qualify and hand over leads.

Our principles:

  • Improving lives through better medicine: we’re intensely mission-focused, and are building a highly scalable business to make an impact on society.
  • Kindness: we come from a future where all human beings are treated with dignity, inclusivity, and active empathy, so we apply that to ourselves first in how we hire and treat each other.
  • Transparency: we are one team, and hold that openness is foundational to ensuring fairness, and that our actions tie to our shared mission.
  • Accountability: we believe that trust is the basis for building anything substantial, and stems from our being accountable to ourselves and each other.
Requirements

What we look for

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, with preference for a degree in STEM.
  • This is mid-level position. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of prior experience in business development or sales for a highly technical product (i.e. enterprise software), ideally in a lead generation or SDR-like role.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding goals and quotas.
  • Hunger, curiosity, and motivation to learn about and solve data problems for clients with the rest of the Ganymede team and grow our business
  • Integrity, ability to self-start, creativity, and compassionate courage when faced with adversity
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness and interest to travel as needed to client sites and conferences across the country. Ability to travel 20-30% time required.
  • Desire to advance the health and welfare of people

Pluses (but not required by any means!):

  • Willing to relocate, or currently in, the greater Boston or San Francisco metro areas.
  • Graduate STEM degrees or or an MBA
  • Prior experience managing SDRs or teams in similar commercial functions
  • Experience in the Life Sciences and/or SaaS
Benefits
  • Highly competitive salary and equity as an early employee
  • Remote-first role and culture, with periodic reimbursed travel for the team to meet together.
  • Unlimited PTO & sick days
  • Excellent health benefits (Medical, Dental & Vision), life, and disability insurance
  • Family leave (Maternity, Paternity, Medical, Caregiver)
Salary Range
  • 80-120K base salary depending on experience; 160K-200K OTE.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
