Manager of Automated Solutions and Sales

Salary range: $145,000 - $250,000

Abel Womack is building and scaling a high-impact Automated Solutions division—and we’re looking for a hands-on, customer-facing leader to shape our go-to-market strategy and help customers modernize their distribution and fulfillment operations. In this role, you’ll blend consultative selling with technical insight to identify opportunities, design integrated automation concepts, quantify ROI, and lead relationships from first conversation through solution delivery.

What you’ll do

  • Set and lead the sales strategy to grow Abel Womack’s Automated Solutions business—building pipeline, forecasting performance, and executing against growth goals.
  • Identify and qualify automation opportunities through site assessments and “four-wall” logistics studies; translate operational needs into practical, scalable concepts.
  • Conceptualize and position integrated solutions spanning robotics, AGVs/AMRs, goods-to-person systems, and pallet shuttle systems—balancing innovation, feasibility, and cost.
  • Partner closely with internal Sales, Engineering/Systems Solutions, Project Management, Marketing, and executive leadership to deliver end-to-end customer solutions.
  • Develop compelling customer proposals, layouts, flow diagrams, conceptual models, and presentations that connect technology to measurable business outcomes.
  • Build ROI and financial justifications (pricing, payback, benefits) that win stakeholder alignment and support sound business decisions.
  • Maintain and grow strategic relationships with key vendors and partners (e.g., Bastian; KUKA, Geek+, Movu, FANUC, Locus), and negotiate agreements to deliver best-fit solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert—staying current on automation trends and recommending improvements that increase customer ROI.
  • Hire, coach, and develop Automation Account Managers; set areas of prime responsibility (APRs) and support the team in closing complex opportunities.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by staying engaged through solution definition and delivery, escalating and integrating senior leadership as needed.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in warehouse automation or automation sales engineering.
  • Strong working knowledge of automated material handling equipment and robotics applications.
  • Proven success leading and influencing complex, customer-facing sales cycles with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver integrated solutions on time and on budget.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to build credible ROI and performance assumptions.
  • Comfort operating with autonomy, discretion, and independent judgment in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Bonus points for

  • Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar); simulation experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, controls, and WMS/WCS integration.
  • Experience using analytics or simulation tools to validate throughput, capacity, and system performance.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and safety requirements for industrial environments.
  • Experience effectively using CRM tools to drive accountability and sales process discipline.
  • Certified Automation Professional (CAP) or similar industry certification.
