About the Role:

As Fetch continues to expand the role of AI across our platform, the AI Operations team plays a critical role in ensuring our AI systems are accurate, scalable, and trustworthy. Evolving from our legacy Receipt Quality (RQ) function, this team now partners closely with ML engineers and other cross-functional teams to support, maintain, and enhance ML model performance across core areas. Current focus involves supporting large language model (LLM) development through structured evaluation, prompt testing, training data curation, and automation oversight.

As Manager, AI Operations, you will lead a multidisciplinary team focused on operational excellence in AI system support. You will be responsible for developing talent, driving strategic initiatives, and evolving the team’s structure, processes, and outputs as we scale. This role requires a hands-on, strategic leader who can operate effectively in a transitional environment while delivering immediate impact.

This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US offices or remotely in the United States.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a high-performing team consisting of AI Operations Specialists, Project Coordinators, Automation Specialists, and potentially a Supervisor.
  • Strategic Execution: Own and execute complex, ambiguous projects that directly influence team evolution and business outcomes.
  • Performance Management: Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and foster a culture of accountability, growth, and high performance.
  • Operational Oversight: Monitor team workflows, identify areas for improvement, and ensure output quality and efficiency across all domains (LLM QA, prompt testing, data curation, automation).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with ML engineers, product managers, and go-to-market teams to align priorities, drive shared goals, and maintain system integrity.
  • Process Development: Establish scalable workflows, documentation standards, and best practices for AI Operations.
  • Change Management: Guide the team through the ongoing transition from Receipt Quality to a formal AI Operations function, ensuring clarity, alignment, and engagement.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ years of direct people management experience with a track record of developing talent, navigating complexity, and leading teams through periods of change.
  • Demonstrated success managing operations or technical teams in high-growth or transformation settings
  • Technically savvy in AI Operations, AI/ML systems and tooling, model QA, LLM evaluation, or similar domains
  • Experience driving process improvement, managing competing priorities, and executing against ambiguous problems
  • Strategic and hands-on, with the ability to define long-term direction while remaining close enough to the work to understand execution challenges.
  • Data-informed, with the ability to use metrics and structured feedback to guide decisions and improve performance.
  • Strong project ownership skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives from conception through execution
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
