An exciting opportunity is now available for a solution focused manager to join the Technology Enabled Science (TES team) at CSL. As part of the global TES team, this role builds AI/ML, Advanced Analytics, Automation & Digital Agent solutions for R&D scientists and R&D operations. This is a hands-on builder role at the center of the CoE: turning scientific and operational use cases into working, validated software using agentic development approaches.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the US based senior director you will:
Design, build, and deploy AI models, intelligent agents, automation scripts, and scientist-facing applications across R&D use cases.
Practice agentic software development daily (e.g., Claude Code and similar tools) to deliver production-quality solutions at speed.
Partner with R&D scientists and digital leads to scope, prototype, and iterate on high-value use cases.
Contribute to ML Ops, model documentation, validation workflows, and responsible-AI practices in a regulated environment.
Support platform integration with enterprise data platforms and existing scientific workflows.
Participate in capability building (hackathons, training, guilds) and end-user support.
Track usage, performance, and value delivered.
Qualifications & Experience
To be successful in this role you will bring:
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a scientific or quantitative discipline (data science, computer science, engineering, computational biology, or related); scientific-domain background strongly preferred.
5+ years combined experience in software engineering, AI/ML, analytics, or automation (research/academic experience counts), preferably touching R&D or life sciences.
Demonstrated hands-on delivery with agentic development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) — building and shipping real software.
Strong Python plus data-engineering fundamentals (SQL, pipelines, cloud — GCP/AWS); ML/time-series experience.
Exposure to regulated/validated environments (GxP, IRB, FDA risk/validation documentation) a plus.
An enthusiastic problem-solving mindset.
