Who We Are

At Apartment List, we’re transforming how people rent—making it smarter, easier, and a lot less frustrating. Our platform has already matched over 1.4 million renters with their next home, while helping properties fill units with the right residents. Backed by strong growth and a big vision, we’re building the future of renting—and inviting bold thinkers to help us shape it!
About the Role

This is an entry-level leader role designed to make maximum impact on a small team focused on driving deal execution. Reporting directly to our VP of Sales, you'll take on a team of 4-5 Account Executives in our Mid-Market segment and be expected to stay close to the deals themselves, not just the activity. This is a hands-on leadership seat: you'll coach, but you'll also jump on calls, help structure deals, and show the team what winning looks like from inside the work.

Here's what you'll do

  • Own quota attainment and pipeline health across your team's book of business, with direct accountability for forecast accuracy and pacing to plan
  • Lead and coach a team of 4-5 Account Executives through deal reviews, pipeline inspection, and regular 1:1 coaching
  • Get in the weeds on deals alongside your reps: join calls, help structure terms, and step in to close when it counts
  • Carry influence over outcomes even on deals you're not directly running, setting the standard for what good execution looks like
  • Partner closely with the VP of Sales and sales leadership during the initial ramp period to shape team structure, territory design, and hiring priorities as the segment evolves
  • Hire, onboard, and develop Account Executives as the team grows, building the bar for who joins this team
  • Partner with Marketing, Product, and Operations to surface field insights and keep GTM execution aligned as the mid-market motion matures

What We’re Looking For

Must-haves:
  • 2-4 years of experience managing or directly leading a sales team, ideally in a mid-market or SMB segment
  • Demonstrated experience staying close to deal execution, working pipeline and calls directly rather than managing only from reporting
  • Experience hiring and developing Account Executives, or clear readiness to do so
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, with reporting lines and team structure still being defined
  • Working experience with CRM tools like Salesforce for pipeline management and forecasting
  • Ability to travel regionally 30% of the time in order to help close business, plus 1-4 trips per year to attend company and industry conferences and events

Nice-to-haves:
  • Background in proptech, multifamily, or an adjacent vertical market
  • Familiarity with Gong or similar conversation intelligence tools
  • Experience building a sales team or segment from an early stage

This is a fully remote role, with an expectation of travel listed above.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)

  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
