Primary Purpose:
A Machine Learning Engineer is a crucial member of the Data Science team. You will be responsible for assisting our Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and MLOps Engineers in deploying and scaling machine learning algorithms, while developing novel approaches to personalization and recommender systems. This position plays a pivotal role in a fast-growing, globally focused network of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and AI practitioners, working to improve product discovery, increase conversion rates, and boost customer engagement. You will also analyze large-scale behavioral and transactional data to evaluate model performance, uncover insights, and support continuous algorithmic improvement.
Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Quincy, MA and Chicago, IL.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Algorithm Development: Develop transportable and customizable modules for our core algorithms, allowing them to be plugged into any of our apps. Support rapid prototyping and deployment of algorithms
- Model Serving: Build model serving applications for serving using REST microservices. Identify constraints, strengths, and weaknesses of technology options for model serving
- Generative AI/NLP: Understand fine-tuning/benchmarking of LLM's, GenAI frameworks, language processing. Prototype and develop applications for LLM's and GenAI use cases.
- Feature Engineering: Extracts, transforms, and selects relevant features from raw data to improve model performance. Ensures data quality and collaborates with cross-functional teams to build scalable, reusable feature pipelines.
- Experimentation: Develop experimentation strategies based on requirements to support Data Science initiatives using A/B testing methodologies
- Learning and Collaboration: Works closely within a team environment to incorporate collaborative business plans utilizing both internal and external data partners. Keep up with latest trends in industry on machine learning space
- Additional job duties may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the business and support our values.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a related field. Master's Degree preferred.
- 2+ years of applied Machine Learning experience with experience in deploying, scaling, and continually improving algorithms
- Expert in distributed computing with Spark, DevOps best practices, and containerization
- Expert coding ability in Python and high competency with PySpark
- Knowledge of API development best practices
- Knowledge of model management • Knowledge of code versioning and agile methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience deploying models on very large data using: Databricks, Kafka and/or Kubernetes
- Understanding of, and experience productionizing, the following ML concepts: Collaborative filtering, Ranking algorithms, Advanced regression, classification, and clustering, Deep learning at scale for NLP
- Experience with advanced search concepts using deep learning is a plus!
- Experience working on cloud infrastructure (Azure Preferred)
- Experience training and serving models on GPU(s)
- Knowledge on Web Development eg. Latency benchmarking, REST, GRPC, GraphQL etc.
- Experience working on Seldo
