SUMMARY OF ROLE
As part of a cross functional team, the Logistics Specialist will coordinate inbound/outbound shipments, support Drives business units with quoting and arranging ‘spot shipments’ and strive to maintain optimised transportation costs. Specialist will be responsible for prioritising tasks, supporting expected shipping schedules, and managing day to day freight activities.

As a Logistics professional and part of the procurement team, the specialist will make a valuable contribution to Drives and Nidec objectives applying both commercial and business acumen, demonstrated by:
Significantly contributing to optimise carriage costs for Drives by ensuring preferred carriers are selected for use.
Providing focused, low risk and scalable logistical solutions on an ad-hoc basis.
Measuring the performance of logistic activities; developing strategies to minimise risk to stakeholders.
Minimising freight delays.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage freight activity at a tactical level:
Planning, managing, and evaluating logistics operations.
Liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics, transportation companies.
Implement best practice logistics principles, policies, and processes across the organisation to improve operational and financial performance.
Manage actively and track daily freight exceptions while supporting internal stake-holder queries.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and agreed routing guide.
Monitor quality, delivery times, and transport costs.
Consolidate freight related data through various reports as required.
Contribute to all global bid processes to ensure the most preferential carriers are chosen for all modes of transport and for all delivery routes both inbound and outbound.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities.
Oversee inbound and outbound transport.
Additional duties as assigned.
Relationship Management
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with all Nidec logistics departments, other Drives departments and externally to ensure alignment and strong performance.
Collaborate and innovate cross functionally.
People Management
This role will not have direct reports in the short or medium term.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education and Qualifications
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Must have exceptional communication skills, verbal and written.
LOGISTICS EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in a Supply Chain role across stock management, warehouse management, logistics and operational efficiency considered an advantage.
2-3 years of logistics experience in related positions preferred.
Experience with various modes of transportation and international freight.
Knowledge of international shipping regulations.
Basic knowledge of the various customs processes and procedures.
Understanding, analysing, and reporting on freight activity.
LANGUAGES
Fluent in English
Spanish beneficial
