🌟 Your Impact at Lila

Lila Sciences is seeking an Entry-Level or Junior-Level Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware & Controls Engineering team. You'll design and engineer components for bench-scale robotics, mechanical systems, and automation while working closely with experimental scientists, AI/ML scientists, and software/controls engineers across both life science and physical science applications. This role offers hands-on experience in CAD design, analysis, prototyping, 3D printing, assembly, and testing.

🛠️ What You'll Be Building

  • Design and implement bench-scale robotics and mechanical systems for automation in both life science and physical science applications.
  • Design pneumatic, electro-mechanical, and optical solutions for innovative research workcells.
  • Perform CAD design and analysis using SolidWorks to develop efficient automated systems.
  • Create and validate designs through 3D printing, laser scribing, and other rapid prototyping methods.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs with software, controls, and facilities.
  • Help transition manual processes to automated workflows while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for custom component fabrication and system integration.

🧰 What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
  • 0-5 years of mechanical engineering experience (specific role will be determined based on experience & expertise).
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD design and understanding of GD&T. Experience and competency in SolidWorks PDM is a plus.
  • Proficiency working with requirement management systems, product lifecycle management, & product data management.
  • Self-motivated with strong project execution and time management skills.

✨ Bonus Points For

  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD design, rapid prototyping, and mechanical testing.
  • Familiarity with automation systems and robotic integration.
  • Basic understanding of motion control and mechatronic systems.
  • Interest in both life science and physical science applications.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing, battery manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, and packaging with discrete material movement.
