At SafetyWing (YC W18), we’re building a global social safety net for remote workers—simple health, insurance, and retirement products designed to replace national welfare systems. Our mission is to remove geographical borders as a barrier to equal opportunity and freedom for everyone. If we succeed, we believe this will be one of the most important tasks of our time.

🌎 About this Role:
We're looking for a Lifecycle Marketing Manager to own the customer journey across our products.
Email marketing will be your primary responsibility. You'll design onboarding experiences, lifecycle automations, segmentation strategies, nurture campaigns, and CRM systems that help customers understand our products, get more value from them, and stay with us longer.
You'll work across both sides of our business:
  • Consumer products for digital nomads, expats, and long-term travelers
  • Healthcare plans for globally distributed companies and their employees
Today, many lifecycle initiatives are owned by different teams. Your mission is to bring them together into a thoughtful, data-informed customer journey that feels personal, timely, and genuinely helpful.
If you enjoy combining psychology, writing, analytics, automation, and experimentation, you'll have an enormous impact here.
💻 Your responsibilities will include:
  • Own our lifecycle marketing strategy across all products
  • Build and optimize onboarding email journeys for new customers
  • Manage recurring email communications, announcements, newsletters, and campaigns
  • Create lifecycle automations, like sending content related to web pages visited, or reminding people to book a demo after a webinar
  • Develop customer segmentation strategies inside HubSpot
  • Maintain CRM health, email lists, preferences, suppression, and lifecycle stages
  • Work with Product Marketing to launch new products and features through email
  • Partner with Product, Design, Copywriting, and Marketing Operations to improve customer communications
  • Analyze campaign performance and continuously improve open rates, click-through rates, conversions, and retention
  • Identify opportunities throughout the customer journey where automation can improve the customer experience
  • Help establish lifecycle marketing as a dedicated function at SafetyWing

🧪 We are looking for someone who:
  • Has 5+ years of lifecycle marketing, CRM, or email marketing experience
  • Has deep experience with HubSpot Marketing Hub
  • Has a strong understanding of customer journeys, lifecycle automation, and segmentation
  • Is experienced with building automated email workflows
  • Knows how to use AI for efficiency, but also how to keep an authentic voice
  • Is comfortable analyzing campaign performance and making data-driven decisions
  • Has excellent written communication skills
  • Has strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Can comfortably manage multiple campaigns simultaneously
  • Is fluent in English

😀 We like to work with people who:
  • Want to help build a global social safety net on the Internet.
  • Think for themselves instead of copying others.
  • Are willing to try new things, even with the risk of failure.
  • Are intellectually curious and open to new ideas.
  • Are creative and bold in the face of any problems.
  • Have strong integrity and do the right thing.

🧘 Benefits beyond base pay:
  • Fully remote work environment – work from anywhere globally
  • Our own global safety net, giving you worldwide health, income, and travel coverage
  • A minimum of four weeks of vacation per year
  • A new laptop
  • Potential to unlock equity compensation, yearly home office allowance and more!
🚀 We look forward to hearing from you!

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
