We are actively recruiting an IP Attorney who can immediately help in general and complex domestic and foreign trademark and copyright matters, including trademark clearance searches and prosecution investigations, and negotiations to resolve 3rd party IP disputes. You will be a collaborative sought after internal business partner advising the general business and members of the Marketing, Supply Chain, and Creative Teams. You have business acumen and a desire to learn each team's role within the Thrasio ecosystem. You thrive in a collaborative matrix structure and strive to build productive internal partnerships with all teams.

 

You will serve as the primary Trademark point of contact for several brands. You will lead the business team in making well-informed decisions, impacting the business’ ability to protect, develop, and expand their brands, trademarks, copyrights, domain names, and overall IP strategy. This position will be based in Boston, MA or Houston, TX. The possibility for a remote role will be considered for exceptional candidates. This position reports to the Assistant General Counsel, Head of Intellectual Property.

Responsibilities"

  • Counsel and provide legal guidance on general IP matters, including trademark, copyright, and UDRP.
  • Strategize and advise business units on best practices for global brand protection
  • Conduct trademark clearance searches and reports, trademark prosecution, and portfolio management including domestic and foreign IP
  • Leading investigations and negotiations to resolve 3rd party IP dispute
  • Translate complex domestic and foreign IP matters to members of business, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Creative Teams
  • Draft and negotiate various contracts, including assignments, licenses, and royalty agreements.
  • Resolve complex business and legal issues

What you bring to the party:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a law firm or in-house setting practicing as an attorney focused on global trademark portfolio management is an absolute requirement. Prior corporate in-house experience is highly preferred.
  • J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state
  • Direct experience managing a global brand portfolio (trademark and copyright), including conducting trademark clearance searches, experience with IP audits and inter partes proceedings, handling domain name disputes and negotiating with third parties for various trademark disputes. Experience handling brand protection activities on Amazon is highly preferred. Experience with domestic and international trademark/copyright portfolio management and enforcement
  • Legal experience in one or more relevant intellectual practice areas in a CPG/eCommerce environment is a major plus.
  • Provide legal counsel on general IP matters, including trademark, copyright, and UDRP to internal teams
  • Excellent writing, research and analytical skills
  • Superior communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Experience providing marketing and advertising support on issues related to social media.
