CarGurus seeks an attorney to join our growing legal team and to focus on the Company’s consumer compliance and general corporate activities. As Associate Corporate Counsel, you will support and advise internal clients across the organization on legal risks, compliance issues, business strategies, and other issues related primarily to data privacy and security, technology transaction, and general corporate matters. You will have the opportunity to interact with many areas of the business, work independently, and grow your role and impact as CarGurus pursues sophisticated and exciting new initiatives. In this role, you will be encouraged to exercise excellent business judgment to seek legal solutions while managing risks and employing creative problem-solving skills. What You’ll Do:
- Working cross-functionally with CarGurus’ Engineering and Information Security organizations, lead legal aspects of data privacy and security initiatives.
- Counsel internal partners on consumer product design and compliance.
- Review, negotiate and draft a variety of technology-related agreements.
- Support M&A transactions and integration.
- Participate in critical business initiatives as your skills and interests allow.
Who You Are:
- Resilient, comfortable thinking on your feet, and up for having a little fun along the way
- A minimum of 2 years major law firm legal experience
- JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice in Massachusetts or other U.S. state
- Track record of working as a phenomenal teammate
- Proven experience in relevant subject matter
- Ability to balance legal risk and strategic objectives
- Strong drafting abilities and written/verbal communication skills
- Willingness to interact and communicate effectively with individuals from multiple departments and fields at all levels of the organization
- Technical background in software or related industry a plus
