Develop and manage legal operations technology strategy, from the RFP stage through implementation and maintenance, with key stakeholders and partners across the company.  Oversee the integration and utilization of solutions, including AI-driven platforms, which improve efficiency and support data-driven decision-making.
Develop and maintain effective information management processes for storing legal records, ensuring that legal information is well-organized, accessible, and compliant.  Extensive experience with contract lifecycle management and related tools.
Facilitate ongoing enhancement of standard form agreements, policies, and legal procedures.
Assess the existing legal operations capabilities and requirements, and develop as well as execute both immediate and long-term strategies to enhance operational efficiency, ensuring significant and impactful improvements throughout the entire department.
Coordinate and oversee third-party service providers such as law firms, alternative legal service providers, and consultants, including monitoring performance, processing invoices and accruals, and ensuring adherence to billing arrangements.
Oversee total legal expenditures by developing metrics to track spending on outside counsel and vendors, maintaining rate cards, ensuring adherence to budgets, and managing timely accruals. Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and provide regular reports to senior leadership.
Lead change management initiatives to ensure seamless transitions during process improvements, technology implementations, and organizational changes.
Help identify, track, and implement Legal Department metrics.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop a management system for policy reviews, approvals, and task management across the organization to ensure assignments are completed.
Generate reports from data matrices and sources to support audits, compliance, and communications to the executives.
Performs related administrative duties as needed.
Maintains discretion in projects and daily tasks, ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.

Desired Skills and Experience:
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in legal operations, preferably in a corporate legal department of a public company.
Exceptional candidates demonstrate initiative-taking and solutions-oriented behavior, with a proven history in process improvement within a legal setting.
Willing and able to roll up your sleeves, rather than delegating.
Ability to think strategically to identify issues and create long-term solutions.
                    Detail-oriented, accurate, and highly organized.
Capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing deliverables for multiple projects simultaneously within established deadlines.

Outstanding verbal and written communication, analytical, and people skills.
Capacity to impact various levels within the organization.
Work independently to drive key initiatives as well as function as part of a team to collaboratively achieve success for the broader organization.
                    Takes a business-savvy, creative approach to problem-solving.
Ability to determine when to escalate issues.
Skilled in technical systems and workflow automation tools used by legal departments, including Microsoft Office Suite, Apttus/Conga, DocuSign, Legal Tracker, and Smartsheet.
                    Great sense of humor.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
