The Legal Data Analyst supports the Knowledge & Innovation team's data-driven capabilities to provide firmwide strategic insights, with a particular focus on deal data analytics. This role focuses on developing Tableau dashboards and other data visualizations that surface actionable insights from the firm's deal data. The Legal Data Analyst performs data analysis, creates visualizations, and supports the adoption of data analytics across practice groups to contribute to a more informed, efficient, and insight-driven culture across the firm.
What You Will Do:
Develops and maintains Tableau dashboards and other data visualizations to surface actionable insights from the firm's deal data and other knowledge management resources.
Analyzes firm data, including deal terms collected through post-closing surveys across various practice groups, to identify market trends to identify market trends, patterns, and insights that support firmwide strategic initiatives decision-making, and client facing initiatives.
Ensures data quality and accuracy within knowledge management systems, implementing data validation processes and maintaining consistent data standards to support reliable analytics and reporting.
Collaborates with attorneys and professional staff to understand their data needs and creates customized reports and visualizations that address specific practice group requirements.
Supports data-driven initiatives across the firm, working with senior team members on strategic projects while managing day-to-day data visualization and analysis needs.
Promotes the adoption of data analytics by attorneys and staff, providing training and support to enhance data literacy across the firm.
Monitors and responds to requests for data analysis and visualization, directing users to relevant analytical resources and creating new visualizations as needed.
Who You Are:
3-5 years of relevant experience in data analysis, preferably in a law firm, professional services firm or corporate environment.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
Experience in Tableau or other data visualization tools.
Proficiency in Tableau and advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with data analysis tools, SharePoint, Foundation, InterAction, iManage, and Microsoft Office preferred. SQL or other database query experience a plus.
Ability to effectively manage work to high quality standards, with a meticulous eye for detail.
Accountable, assumes responsibility for quality and timeliness of his/her work.
Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and execute tasks, multitask and meet deadlines.
Within scope of position, works independently using sound judgment.
Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the firm in a professional manner.
Ability to work collaboratively with members of the Knowledge Management department, technical staff, and users at the firm.
Technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn new applications.
