We’re looking for an experience designer excited to spark transformation
At FranklinCovey, we design learning experiences that shift mindsets and inspire lasting behavior change. As our Learning Experience Designer (LXD) for facilitated solutions (live in-person and live online), you’ll help reimagine how leaders grow—through bold insights, captivating storytelling, and active learning.

This role is for you if you’re passionate about human behavior, turning big ideas into aha moments, and the power of live, transformative experiences. (It’s not for content packagers, slide decorators, or cookie-cutter eLearning designers.)

What you’ll do

  • Co-create flagship solutions. Be a thought partner to the Senior Director of Content (project owner) in shaping the core narrative, architecture, and target learner outcomes for our facilitated courses.
  • Surface breakthrough insights. Dig into research, extract what matters, and frame it in ways that drive mindset shifts and lasting behavior change.
  • Design captivating experiences. Conceptualize and create activities, tools, and resources that deliver a powerful mix of insight, emotion, relatability, and actionability.
  • Collaborate with creatives. Work with graphic designers, video producers, and a wide variety of stakeholders to conceptualize media for courses, communicating learner outcomes and design rationale at every turn.
  • Leverage emerging tech. Use tools like AI, motion design, or interactive media to expand what’s possible in live learning.
  • Contribute feedback with clarity and care. Help your teammates—from peers to executives—build a better product by offering honest and actionable input.
  • Own additional independent projects. Plan and execute small projects that help us innovate (large projects have dedicated project managers).

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree (combination of High School diploma + four years of progressive design experience considered degree equivalent)
  • 5+ years creating learning experiences from concept to launch, preferably in the leadership domain

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to design live or virtual facilitator-led experiences (not only self-paced content)
  • Compelling, clear communicator in writing, editing, and presentation design
  • High standards for critical thinking, originality, and usefulness
  • Strong accountability and informal leadership—you keep commitments, seek clarity when you lack it, collaborate with high trust, and influence any group for the better
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, and AI tools.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
