Our formula for success is to hire exceptional people, encourage their ideas and reward their results.

As a Leadership Rotation Network (LRN) Analyst Intern, you will work directly within a dedicated middle or back-office team, such as Global Trading Operations, Treasury, Product Control, Credit Risk, Project Management, Business Management, or Finance. Over the course of your 10-week internship, you will contribute meaningfully to your team's objectives and gain in-depth knowledge in your specific area of placement.

How we expect our LRN Interns to make an impact:

  • Apply your acquired knowledge and skills to deliver tangible value in your assigned team
  • Lead projects and participate in daily processes, gaining insight into your team’s scope and their collective role in supporting our trading business
  • Analyse situations, develop solutions aligned with our strategic goals and respond constructively to feedback
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the business and gain a “behind the scenes” look at how our trading functions work together cohesively
  • Effectively collaborate within diverse teams and build lasting relationships with cohort members and the LRN community

You'll be right at home if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related field, with a graduation date between December 2026 and August 2027
  • Basic proficiency in:
    • Python: Experience with pandas, handling CSV/JSON files, API interaction (requests), and writing scripts/classes. Knowledge of conda/virtualenv, GitHub, and matplotlib/seaborn is a plus.
    • SQL: Ability to write intermediate queries (JOINs, CTEs, PIVOT) for data transformation. Familiarity with integrating SQL in analytics/reporting tools is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel: Skilled in functions such as VLOOKUP, INDEX MATCH, pivot tables, conditional formatting, and macros/VBA.
  • An insatiable desire to learn, unwavering commitment to integrity, and proven ability to deliver both individually and as part of a team
  • A curious mindset, excellent organisational and analytical thinking, a passion for process improvement and a strong sense of urgency
  • A self-starter attitude, capable of managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines while maintaining a high-quality work product
  • Excellent communication skills and a capacity for rapid learning
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, along with a sharp attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently while fostering strong working relationships across various business groups
  • Work authorisation in the United Kingdom without the need for sponsorship in the future

Ideal candidates will also possess:

  • An interest in trading and technology, with a specific aspiration to work in a middle/back-office role
  • A desire to live and work in London (this opportunity requires physical presence and is not offered remotely)

What to expect during the internship…

  • Meaningful projects: You’ll receive a challenging project to complete during your time here, specifically aligned with the middle or back-office functions. Each project is advised by an experienced professional from your team, promoting a comprehensive learning experience and providing you with meaningful work experience.
  • Community: Throughout the summer, we host a variety of educational, social and team-building activities to foster friendship and camaraderie.
  • Housing: DRW provides fully furnished apartments located close to the office – making your morning commute as easy as possible.
  • Mentorship: You’ll build a professional relationship with an experienced mentor in your field. Mentors and mentees meet to discuss goals, challenges and professional development and explore the city together at our mentor outings.
  • Education: As part of your onboarding, you'll participate in a 5-day market fundamentals course that will equip you with essential knowledge about the trading industry and the critical roles of middle and back-office functions. In addition, throughout the summer, you'll have the opportunity to engage in a speaker series designed to further your understanding of DRW's scope and operations. These educational experiences aim to provide you with a comprehensive view of how our trading infrastructure and support systems work, preparing you for the unique opportunities and challenges that lie in the evolving landscape of finance and trading.

DRW is a diversified trading firm with over 3 decades of experience bringing sophisticated technology and exceptional people together to operate in markets around the world.  We value autonomy and the ability to quickly pivot to capture opportunities, so we operate using our own capital and trading at our own risk.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
