About the Role:

The Lead Specialist, Accessibility Solutions develops, implements, and continuously improves Wiley's Digital Accessibility Maturity Model, and leads our Accessibility Solutions team.
 

Job Responsibilities

1. Digital Accessibility Maturity Model
a. Develop and work closely with leaders across Wiley to complete, implement and continuously improve our Digital Accessibility Maturity Model
b. Coordinate with leaders across the company to continually improve our ratings across the model's seven top-level dimensions (Communications; Knowledge and Skills; Customer Support; Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Development Lifecycle; Personnel; Procurement; and Culture)

2. VPAT and VPAT Roadmap Management
a. Manage process for commissioning third-party accessibility audits of key digital products
b. Lead members of team in working with Product Managers to develop accurate test scripts, review the test results, and develop a remediation roadmap, accessibility statement, and FAQs for each tested product

3. Training and Developer Guidance
a. Procure and update as needed corporate-wide training modules for developing/creating born-accessible products and digital services
b. Consult with content creators and developers on WCAG standards and compliance

4. Content Templates
a. Develop and update as needed templates for common content file types
b. Consult with content creators on technical issues or business trade-offs

5. Culture and Consulting
a. Advocate for the highest level of accessibility compliance in service to our customers and our employees
b. Lead the Wiley Accessibility Guild; present in webinars or conferences on Wiley's Accessibility program and success; and communicate with all employees why accessibility matters and how it impacts their responsibilities at Wiley

6. Accessibility Legislation
a. Stay informed on developments and updates to major s legislation (such as The European Accessibility Act and ADA Title II)
b. Consult with Wiley's Legal Department on how best to communicate changes to the business
 

7. Impact
a. Impact the achievement of objectives for own team and other related teams


Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in accessibility, compliance, or related field
  • Knowledge of WCAG, WAI-ARIA, Section 508, EN 301 549, and inclusive design best practices
  • Knowledge of accessibility laws including the ADA, Section 508, and the European Accessibility Act
  • Familiarity with XML, HTML, and CSS as used in publishing workflows
  • Experience with document accessibility and remediation
  • Experience with accessibility testing tools and methods (e.g., screen readers, automated testing tools, manual processes)
  • Competency with assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, etc.) and adaptive strategies
  • Familiarity with JIRA and design systems.
  • Experience working in Agile or product development environments.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and direct team activities and results.
  • Writes clear, well-organized documentation and training materials, using appropriate style and tone
  • General understanding of financial information and the ability to generate and analyze cost information and other legal information.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of desktop publishing on a Macintosh/PC platform. Thorough knowledge of MS Office suite of applications, and e-mail.
Preferred
  • Knowledge of ONIX metadata standards and accessibility metadata fields
  • Prior experience in digital publishing and compliance management a plus.
  • Certifications such as CPACC, WAS, or other IAAP credentials are a plus.
  • Understanding of EPUB accessibility and validation.
  • Relevant work experience relating to license negotiation, contracts, and procurement.

The range below represents Wiley's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles in the United Kingdom, Canada, USA, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, or Spain. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
