We are seeking a Lead Backend Software Engineer to join a team working on our KYC and identity verification system building robust, performant solutions in Rust that handle sensitive data and power our core infrastructure. You will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining this core functionality which is crucial to our success. As a technical leader, this individual will be responsible for driving innovation, optimizing system performance, and ensuring the scalability, security, and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product, security, compliance, and data analytics.
Key Responsibiliities
- Develop and maintain backend systems for KYC and identity verification.
- Ensure compliance with CIP, BSA, and broader KYC/AML standards.
- Write secure, auditable, and production-grade code in Rust.
- Collaborate on system architecture and scalability decisions.
- Prioritize correctness, efficiency, and resilience..
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Rust and backend development.
- Familiarity with microservices, async systems, and database operations.
- Experience working with sensitive data and secure systems.
- Strong attention to detail and software quality.
- Knowledge of low-level languages (C, C++, Go) or ML infra is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and making strategic architectural decisions.
- Excellent collaboration skills across product, finance, compliance, and support functions.
- Experience with data pipeline design, analytics integration, and geolocation-based access controls is preferred as is having an understanding of system performance tuning, security protocols, and regulatory compliance (AML, KYC, data privacy).
This position is onsite at our Boston HQ located next to South Station.
