The RoleAs a Software Engineer on the Cypress Cloud team, you'll build premier cloud services that impact thousands of organizations daily. You'll develop user-facing web applications and backend systems that enable developers to have confidence in their software through intelligent testing workflows.
Cypress Cloud aggregates and applies intelligence from past test runs to support better CI failure debugging, test suite analytics, and intelligent orchestration that improves developer velocity while reducing CI costs. You'll work closely with Design, Product, Data, and Growth teams with end-to-end engineering ownership from ideation through operations and enhancements.

Our Core Tech Stack: TypeScript, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Clickhouse, Redis, Honeycomb, and ECS (Amazon Elastic Container Service).
What You'll Do- Contribute to the whole product process from product concept and research to architecture, implementation and deployment
- Build and maintain user-facing web applications that provide exceptional developer experiences for testing workflows
- Build scalable backend services, data pipelines, and APIs that power Cypress Cloud's analytics, orchestration, and AI capabilities
- Work with AI technologies including LLMs, prompt engineering, and AI service integrations to deliver intelligent developer tools
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Product, and Data to deliver features that delight developers
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices across the team
- Support, maintain, and optimize production systems that serve thousands of organizations globally
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability and handle support escalations (approximately 1-2 rotations per quarter)
- Thinking holistically about systems and user experience
- Hearing what users think of the newest feature, and making it even better
- Optimizing your dev-test cycles so you can build, test, and deploy rapidly
- Finding the root cause of errors seen by users
- Understanding why something was built one way vs another
- Adding more instrumentation to better understand a problem
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with full-stack development
- Passion for developer tools and improving developer experiences
- Comfort with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web technologies like React
- Backend development experience with Node.js, Python, or similar technologies
- Database experience with both SQL and OLAP systems (PostgreSQL and ClickHouse experience preferred)
- Experience with performance optimization and scaling customer-facing applications
- Understanding of RESTful and GraphQL APIs and microservices architecture
- Experience with CI/CD automation using tools such as CircleCI, Drone, Harness, or Jenkins
- AI-assisted development proficiency with tools like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar AI coding assistants
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable with on-call responsibilities and production system support
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt/context engineering, or AI model integration
- Experience with distributed systems and data pipeline technologies (Kafka, ClickHouse, RedShift, etc.)
- Strong grasp of testing fundamentals and continuous delivery practices
- Experience with observability tools including logging, monitoring, and alerting systems
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar), including Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
- Experience building developer-facing products or tools
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks (bonus points for Cypress experience!)
- Experience in startup or high-growth environments
- Competitive compensation package with generous base salary (185K-230K depending on experience) plus equity
