The Lead Product Manager role within the Insurance AI program is a strategic leader who will define, champion, and operationalize high-value Augmented Intelligence (AI) initiatives across the Insurance segment within Humana. They will leverage deep insurance domain expertise and AI product management skills to identify opportunities, guide use cases from concept to adoption, and ensure measurable value delivery.
This role will operate within the Insurance Augmented Intelligence program which is paving the way to enable viable use cases that yield optimal value for Humana. We identify critical business challenges, shepherd innovative AI use cases from concept to widespread adoption. Our portfolio includes management of various AI opportunities across the insurance segment. We bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and business needs, forecasting value, shaping executive understanding, and acting as product leaders for transformative initiatives.

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Product Manager with familiarity of AI & strategic initiatives to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in expanding our impact, identifying new frontiers for AI within the insurance sector, and ensuring our AI solutions are not only technologically advanced but also deeply integrated into core business processes, delivering tangible, high-impact results. You will be a key driver in shaping the future of AI at our organization, operating at the intersection of business strategy, technology, data science and organizational change.
What You'll Do:
- Strategic AI Roadmap Development: Define and champion the long-term AI product vision and roadmap, aligning closely with the overall company strategy and identifying high-value extensible AI opportunities within the insurance domain.
- Business Case & Value Realization: Lead the development of compelling business cases for new AI initiatives, ensuring there is value forecasting, ROI analysis, and defining clear success metrics. Continuously monitor and report on the realized value of deployed AI solutions
- Discovery & Innovation Leadership: Conduct deep-dive market research, competitive analysis, and stakeholder interviews to uncover unmet needs and pain points that can be solved through process optimization and AI. Proactively identify emerging AI technologies and trends relevant to the insurance industry.
- AI Use Case Shepherding & Governance: Guide high-priority AI use cases through the entire lifecycle, from ideation and proof-of-concept through to scaling and operationalization. Champion and enforce the AI stage-gate process, ensuring governance, compliance, and ethical AI principles are embedded at every step.
- Cross-Functional Product Leadership: Act as the primary product leader for a portfolio of strategic AI initiatives. This includes defining and prioritizing features, managing various backlogs, and prioritizing features based on business value and technical feasibility.
- Stakeholder Management & Influence: Build strong relationships and influence across all levels of the organization, from front-line advocates to executive leadership. Translate complex AI concepts into clear and concise business language and compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Collaboration with Technical Teams: Partner closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and IT teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring scalable, robust, and performant AI solutions.
- Operationalization & Adoption: Collaborate with operational teams to ensure smooth deployment, effective user training, and high adoption rates of AI solutions. Address operational challenges and drive continuous improvement post launch.
What You'll Bring
- 6-8 years of product management experience, with at least 1 - 3 years focused specifically on AI/ML products.
- Deep Understanding of the healthcare insurance industry and the unique challenges and opportunities for AI within this sector.
- Proven track record of defining, launching, and scaling successful AI-powered products that deliver measurable business value in a complex enterprise environment.
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to identify high-impact problems, formulate innovative AI-driven solutions, and articulate their business value.
- Solid technical understanding of AI/ML concepts, including model development lifecycle, and data requirements.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, capable of influencing diverse audiences from technical team to C-suite executives.
- Demonstrated experience navigating complex organization structures and driving initiatives through influence rather than direct authority.
- Proficiency with product management tools (e.g., Jira, Azur DevOps) and strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision making.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Data Science).
