About Sharebite

Sharebite is the leading food ordering platform built for companies to feed their employees. Our platform allows their employees to place meal orders with their favorite restaurants while helping to combat food insecurity in local communities. Every meal ordered on Sharebite results in a meal donation through local partners like Feeding America and City Harvest, and to date, we have donated over 15 million meals.

Being well fed is an essential ingredient for employee wellbeing, team performance, and company culture. Join our team and help bring do-good, feel-good eating to the world.

About the Role

As a Lead Product Designer at Sharebite, you’ll lead end-to-end product design across our suite of experiences, from employee ordering to admin tooling and partner workflows. You’ll translate complex requirements into elegant, accessible, and measurable user journeys that drive adoption, retention, and delight. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Customer teams to ship high-quality work quickly, evolve our design system, and raise the bar for craft across the organization. This role blends systems thinking with hands-on execution. You will also manage a small team of designers and guide their work and development.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead end-to-end design for high-impact product areas: discovery, flows, IA, interaction design, visual design, and design QA through launch and iteration.
  • Translate business goals and user needs into clear problem statements, hypotheses, and measurable outcomes; define success metrics with PM and Data.
  • Plan and run lean research (customer interviews, concept tests, usability studies); synthesize insights into JTBD, personas, journey maps, and actionable opportunities.
  • Prototype across fidelities (from fast lo-fi to interactive hi-fi) to de-risk ideas and accelerate alignment with stakeholders and engineers.
  • Deliver production-ready specifications with responsive behaviors, edge/empty/error/loading states, content guidance, and accessibility notes.
  • Evolve and maintain Sharebite’s design system in Figma: create modular components, tokens, and patterns; partner with Engineering on parity and governance.
  • Champion accessibility and inclusive design (keyboard navigation, semantics, contrast, motion preferences) aligned to WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • Collaborate tightly with Engineering throughout implementation—partner closely with Engineering and Product throughout the software development life cycle by conducting design reviews and validating implementation against design specifications.
  • Maintain coherence with Brand and Marketing across surfaces; contribute to key campaigns or landing pages when needed to ensure a unified experience.
  • Manage designers through structured critique, coaching, and documentation; codify patterns and best practices to scale design quality across teams.
  • Operate with ownership and urgency—balance speed with rigor, communicate tradeoffs clearly, and consistently deliver outcomes that move the business and mission forward.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6–10+ years of end-to-end product design experience shipping web and/or mobile products at scale, including ownership of a core product area.
  • Expert in Figma (auto-layout, variants, components, tokens) and rapid prototyping across fidelities; comfortable with interaction details and motion.
  • Strong systems thinking: can design patterns, evolve design systems, and maintain consistency across complex surfaces and states.
  • Proven ability to partner with PM and Engineering from discovery through delivery; clear, pragmatic decision-making and tradeoff communication.
  • Data-informed mindset: comfortable defining success metrics, collaborating on instrumentation, and iterating from qualitative and quantitative insights.
  • Accessibility fluency and commitment to inclusive design practices aligned to WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication—clear specs, crisp documentation, effective async updates, and facilitation of critiques/workshops.
  • High bar for craft with speed: you can move fast, manage ambiguity, and still deliver polished, production-ready work.
  • Team contributor and mentor: gives/receives feedback well, elevates design quality across peers, and helps codify standards.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
