We are hiring across multiple teams, including:

  • Nonprofits
    • Lead the design vision and execution for our new nonprofit product experience, making it easier and more valuable for nonprofits to start and win campaigns using our product.
    • Design a compelling MVP experience for a new user group: nonprofit staff 
    • Launch nonprofit-specific features that build trust and drive action
    • Extend our design system to accommodate new nonprofit use cases
    • Conduct discovery research with a range of nonprofit users, leading to actionable product insights
  • Personalization
    • Develop the paradigms for how users create a more personalized experience of our petitions that engages and retains them, and design those user experiences across our lifecycle communications and other product surfaces
    • Create and validate mental models for how users engage with petitions, shaping interactions like buttons, ratings, or swipes across channels
    • Design user journeys across multiple touchpoints across the lifecycle so that users have a more personalized experience
    • Translate personalization strategies (segmentation, triggers, dynamic content) across a number of channels
    • Use data and experimentation results to optimize flows, improve conversion metrics, and refine personalization strategies
  • Community petitions & growth marketing
    • Design new flows and features that grow a new type of user -- one that helps petitions created by us to succeed
    • Work collaboratively to identify and build new efforts to increase the number of impactful petitions
    • Develop new features and optimize existing experiences that measurably increase petition creation, supporter activation, and community engagement
    • Conduct user discovery and emotional mapping to inform product decisions, translating insights into actionable design solutions
    • Rapidly prototype and test concepts, using data and qualitative insights to refine flows and engagement mechanisms for maximum impact
  • Supporter experience
    • Deepen our understanding of petition supporter needs and motivations, surfacing insights into what makes petitions compelling and emotionally resonant for different audiences
    • Lead strategic design thinking to define and prototype new supporter-facing features that improve clarity, trust, and long-term engagement
    • Shape a holistic UX vision and strategy for the supporter journey, ensuring that every interaction feels inspiring, impactful, and connected to our mission
    • Drive measurable improvements in petition outcomes (signatures, shares, decision maker responsiveness) by designing, testing, and iterating features that reduce friction, highlight impact, and motivate ongoing supporter action

These core competencies span all roles:

  • Design Thinking: You take a structured, human-centered approach to problem-solving that ensures products and experiences are intuitive, accessible, and valuable for users. You are skilled at deep user research, iterative prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration to create solutions that align with both user needs and business goals.
  • User Empathy & Research: You center users' emotions, motivations, and pain points in your design process and you leverage qualitative research to uncover these insights. You can anticipate and map users’ emotional states at different touchpoints. Your designs reduce stress and uncertainty and inspire trust and confidence.
  • Innovation Mindset: You identify unmet user needs, envision new opportunities, and build and evolve product experiences. You are comfortable with both in-product testing and iterative learning around existing features, as well as using user insight to identify new feature ideas. You’re energized by rapid experimentation, and you pivot when the data tells a new story.
  • Holistic Design: You design for the entire user journey, considering how users interact with a product over time, across multiple touchpoints, and in different contexts. You ensure that an experience is cohesive, evolving, and continuously engaging. You think broadly about ecosystems, ensuring that early design decisions scale effectively. You consider how new solutions integrate with existing workflows and experiences.
  • Collaboration & Influence: You successfully influence without direct authority by building trust and credibility. You help build a culture of collaboration by proactively initiating larger, inclusive, cross-team conversations about key aspects of your work. You build across surfaces that other teams are invested in by considering their needs and goals along with existing UX flows.

Target experience

  • 8+ years of product/UX design experience, including some B2C and/or product-led B2B experience
  • End-to-end UX expertise, including strategy, new feature development, UX, and UI
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative user research experience with significant experience moving from discovery to experimentation
  • Experience building products and features that guide users through emotional journeys (health tech, fintech, civic tech, etc.)
  • Bonus: experience designing for small or medium-sized businesses or nonprofits
  • Bonus: growth design experience
  • Bonus: experience with personalization and lifecycle design

This is a full time, remote role that may be based anywhere in North America.

Our compensation philosophy is based on pay equity. All of our salaries are determined before we launch a role – they are based on a predetermined salary scale, the level on that scale and the cost of labor for that location. The annual salary of a Lead Product Designer is $218,000 in San Francisco and New York City, $207,000 in Austin, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Washington D.C., and $185,500 in all other US locations. The salary in Vancouver and Toronto is $204,500 CAN. The salary in Mexico is $1,595,000 MXN.

Global benefits include unlimited PTO, a minimum of 18 weeks of paid parental leave, and a variety of mental & physical health perks.
