The Impact You’ll Make

As the Lead, Procurement Strategy, you will play a critical role in shaping and managing our most strategic vendor relationships, including AWS and other technical partners with long-term contracts. You will partner with Engineering, Finance, and Legal to drive vendor strategy, negotiate complex agreements, and build scalable procurement processes that directly support business growth and financial performance. Your responsibilities will include developing vendor financial models, managing end-to-end procurement workflows, and ensuring alignment across the business for strategic sourcing decisions. You will operate as an individual contributor on the team. 

Our ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented self-starter with strong cross-functional collaboration skills and a track record of managing vendor negotiations. We’re looking for someone who brings both strategic thinking and execution excellence, and who is passionate about building scalable processes that create long-term value.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Lead strategic vendor management, including AWS and other major technology partners, with a focus on long-term relationships and contract optimization
  • Own and optimize the end-to-end procurement process, including negotiations, renewals, and vendor performance management, ensuring procurement decisions align with financial and strategic priorities
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout the business to align procurement with broader business objectives, drive operational efficiencies, mitigate risk and ensure scalability
  • Prepare and maintain vendor financial models to support sourcing decisions, working in close partnership with Finance
  • Collaborate with Corporate Finance on cross-functional projects, providing analytical support and insights to guide investment decisions and resource allocation
  • Implement best practices for Nextdoor’s procurement function and manage/enforce policies with cross-functional partners
  • Support leadership with vendor-related reporting, analysis, and strategic initiatives
What You’ll Bring To The Team
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in procurement, vendor management, or sourcing, preferably in a technology-focused environment
  • Demonstrated success managing and negotiating large, complex vendor contracts (AWS or other major technical vendors strongly preferred)
  • Exceptional project management skills and experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong financial and analytical skills and ability to model deal scenarios and identify key drivers of cost/value
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to model deal scenarios, evaluate trade-offs, and connect procurement outcomes to overall financial performance
  • Experience and/or interest in working with corporate finance teams
  • Familiarity with procurement software and tools
  • Eagerness to explore and apply AI and emerging technologies to reimagine how work gets done
Rewards

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create one overall rewards package.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $125,000-$155,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. We are currently exploring candidates who are in office or remote. Thus, compensation will vary by geography. 

We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.

Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
