Overview
This is the most senior individual contributor Program Management (Technical) role at Atlassian. In this role you will bring the leadership necessary to transform and drive some of the most critical company-wide transformations helping Atlassian achieve it's strategic goals.
As a Lead Principal Program Manager on the Central Programs Office (CPO) team, you will provide expert strategic guidance on the planning and execution of complex, cross-functional programs involving engineering, product, sales, marketing, and other teams.
You will oversee and monitor the progress of multiple programs to ensure alignment with company goals and timely delivery, while facilitating collaboration among diverse stakeholders for cohesive execution. You'll leverage your unique experience to identify and mitigate risks, offer technical insights to enhance program outcomes, and support team planning and execution.
As one of the most senior members of the team, you will also shape the Program Management (Technical) craft, which is still in a formation stage, by demonstrating improvements to the technical acumen and strategic leadership expectations across all experience levels.
Last but not least, you'll help define Atlassian's vision for AI Native Program Management, transforming AI from a passive assistant into a true co-worker, accelerating both Atlassian and our customer's ability to get work done.

To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $263,000 - $350,600
Zone B: $236,700 - $315,600
Zone C: $218,300 - $291,000
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

Responsibilities
- Analyze the current state of Atlassian's business objectives, customer needs, product adoption inhibitors, industry trends, and based on these, in close collaboration with your stakeholders, define long-term strategy and roadmap for the Central Program Office.
- Ensure translation of the company and platform/product strategies is into well designed top-line and component programs that when executed will achieve the target outcomes.
- Streamline the execution of the articulated roadmap. Evangelize adoption/usage of the platform and tools across Atlassian executives and product teams.
- As a senior member of the CPO org, you will be driving some of the most complex, cross-divisional projects/initiatives. This will likely include managing complex dependencies and projects with a broad scope across the company
Qualifications
- 15+ years on software teams as TPM, Engineer, Engineering Manager, Product Manager or Program Manager on complex, technical transformations.
- Analyzing area strategies, business priorities, customer needs, industry trends and articulating a long-term roadmap for your area of responsibilities
- Translating customer and/or product strategy into program requirements
- Influencing company and product strategy by leveraging subject matter expertise and technical depth that you built in your previous roles
- Driving programs spanning multiple orgs, including negotiating and reaching agreement with your partners and stakeholders, shepherding the project while identifying and mitigating risks, making trade-off decisions optimizing the outcome
- Rich experience building large-scale commercial Cloud Services and PaaS
