Company Description

YOU MUST LIVE IN THE STATES, BUT THE PHILADELPHIA AREA IS PREFERRED (NY TO DC)

YOU MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN OR GREENCARD HOLDER TO APPLY TO THIS POSITION. WE’RE NOT OFFERING VISA SPONSORSHIP.

Are you ready to transform the Event Planning SaaS Industry and deliver best-in-class code in an exciting startup that’s skyrocketing?

We’re looking for a hands-on Lead Engineer to guide a small, high-performing team (4 engineers) building a scalable SaaS platform for the event and hospitality industry. You’ll be designing, coding, and mentoring daily — the ideal blend of architecture ownership and player-coach leadership.

We’re especially interested in engineers who have gone beyond using AI tools — those who have actually built or integrated AI capabilities into production systems.

Company Overview

Our client is a fast-growing, $3M seed-funded B2B SaaS company in the event planning and hospitality space. Their platform is trusted by over 150K venues worldwide, including major brands like Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt. They’re simplifying and modernizing how event planners and hospitality teams collaborate, source, and book venues — all in one platform.

Backed by strong early traction and clear product-market fit, they’re now building out their core engineering team. This is a high-impact, HANDS-ON, leadership role where you’ll help guide architecture, improve infrastructure, and take ownership of backend systems that power a category-defining product.

Company Culture

This is an amazing opportunity if you’re looking to grow, where you will directly impact the growth and success of an incredible company and team.

Our client values accountability, an ownership mindset, and a data-driven approach. They’re a collaborative team where each person’s contributions directly impact their success. Their company is scaling fast, where micromanagement does not exist, and you’ll have the freedom to think outside the box, bring fresh ideas, and get creative with your processes.

You’ll work closely with the founders and C-Suite, allowing you to make a real difference and be part of strategic decisions. If you're someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with opportunities for growth and advancement, this is the place for you!

Benefits

  • Health Coverage: 100% employee and 50% dependent coverage for vision, health, and dental.
  • Maternity Leave: Support for growing families.
  • Future 401K Plan: Coming soon!
  • Quarterly Meetups: Connect and collaborate in person with the team.
  • Remote work budget and opportunities for leadership advancement.

Company Culture

  • Remote-first culture.
  • High-ownership role with autonomy to shape systems from the ground up.
  • Direct access to the founder and fast decision-making cycles.
  • Clear product-market fit, strong user base, and rapid growth phase.
  • No micromanagement — just big challenges and the trust to solve them.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Lead Engineer who can own system architecture end-to-end — from translating product/customer needs into scalable backend systems, to making architecture trade-offs, to guiding frontend integration.

This is not just a coding role: you’ll be the technical decision-maker working directly with the founder to design and deliver systems that can scale with our growth. This is a great fit for someone who thrives in remote, high-autonomy environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 4 engineers while contributing directly to code (C#, .NET Core, Azure, React).
  • Architect, design, and deploy scalable systems for a growing SaaS product.
  • Collaborate with distributed teams (US & India) — regular morning overlap required. (7-11 AM EST)
  • Experiment with and implement AI tools to improve development velocity and product features.
  • Explore and implement AI capabilities to improve platform performance, scalability, or user experience — such as intelligent scheduling, recommendations, or data insights.
  • Collaborate with product and data teams to prototype and integrate AI-driven features into the SaaS platform.
  • Drive technical decisions that balance scalability, performance, and rapid delivery.
  • Drive architecture decisions for our client’s core platform, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Partner with product and customers to translate requirements into technical designs and implementations.
  • Balance hands-on coding with setting technical direction and mentoring others.
  • Communicate architecture choices and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Keep stack details (C#, Azure, React/TS) but reframe as tools to achieve outcomes, not just skills.
  • Lead backend development using appropriate platforms (C# / .NET are preferred, but our client isn’t too hung up on languages) — designing and maintaining APIs, data models, and business logic.
  • Own Azure-based deployments and DevOps processes; improve CI/CD and environment management.
  • Architect and implement improvements across performance, scalability, and system reliability.
  • Proactively present updates and technical decisions in a clear, organized way (weekly cadence expected).
  • Confidently challenge ideas that aren’t technically sound, and push for smarter solutions when needed.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of C# /.NET B2B SaaS software engineering experience.
  • Proven experience leading small teams or projects as a player-coach.
  • Strong expertise in C#, .NET Core, Azure, and modern JavaScript frameworks (React preferred).
  • Exposure to AI/ML concepts or practical use of AI tools in software development.
  • Experience developing or integrating AI-driven solutions — beyond using existing tools. This can include designing or implementing machine learning models, working with APIs like OpenAI or Azure Cognitive Services, or leveraging LLMs to enhance product functionality or development workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across time zones.
  • Startup or fast-paced product environment experience is a major plus.
  • Strong grasp of DevOps best practices, ideally in Azure environments.
  • Player coach mindset with ability leading and mentoring a cross functional teams including engineering and product.
  • Microsoft Certified or equivalent experience preferred.
  • You’re comfortable working directly with technical founders — and navigating tough conversations when needed.
  • You’re assertive, thick-skinned, and proactive — not afraid to push back, but always solution-oriented.
  • You wear multiple hats.

If you’re a confident, senior engineer ready to lead, build, and influence the future of a fast-growing SaaS platform — we’d love to hear from you.
