About the Role:

We’re looking for a Lead Forward-Deployed Engineer (FDE) to join our team and be the bridge between our product and our customers. This is not your standard engineering role, you’ll be out in the field, working directly with clients, writing production code, and helping them reimagine how they run their business with our platform.  You will be working directly with our Account Management team, implementation team and onboarding team.  This role reports to the VP of Account Management.

As an FDE, you’ll wear a lot of hats: engineer, architect, problem-solver, and trusted advisor. One day you might be prototyping a custom integration; the next, you’re running a proof-of-value with a C-suite exec; the next, you’re feeding back product insights that shape the roadmap. If you like variety, ownership, and making real-world impact, you’ll love this role.

What You’ll Do:
  • Embed with customer teams to understand their workflows and pain points in the Mortgage, SMB and Consumer lending space
  • Design and deliver technical solutions, APIs, microservices, data pipelines, and integrations that solve real business problems.
  • Write and ship production code across the stack (Python, Java, Go, TypeScript/React).
  • Run proof-of-concepts and proof-of-value engagements that demonstrate ROI fast.
  • Troubleshoot gnarly technical issues in live environments and get things back on track.
  • Partner with the Account Management and Product teams to deliver value, and influence the roadmap.
  • Travel occasionally (~30–50%) to customer sites and industry events
What You’ll Bring:
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, or technical consulting.
  • Strong full-stack engineering chops, you can design, build, and ship scalable systems.
  • Backend: Java, Python, Go, microservices, APIs, distributed systems.
  • Frontend: React/TypeScript.
  • Database skills (Postgres, MySQL, data modeling).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure), containers, CI/CD.
  • Comfortable talking to execs and engineers alike; you can translate between business and tech.
  • Thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where you figure it out and get it done.
Nice to Have:
  • Background in fintech, mortgage lending, or financial workflows.
  • Experience with SaaS integrations or loan origination systems.
  • Exposure to AI/ML or generative AI.
Why You’ll Love It Here:
  • You’ll have ownership from day one, our FDEs lead projects end-to-end.
  • You’ll work directly with customers and see the immediate impact of what you build.
  • You’ll shape the product by bringing the voice of the customer straight to engineering.
  • You’ll get the best of both worlds: building like an engineer + solving problems like a consultant.
  • And most importantly, you’ll be part of a fast-moving team where your work actually matters.

Note:

The full-time salary range for this role is around $150,000 + variable + equity + benefits. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.

Disclosure as required by N.Y.C. Admin. Code §§ 8-102 and 8-107(32) of the full time salary compensation range for this role when being hired into our offices in New York City.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
