Lead Engineer (Java/Scala)

In this role you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services.
• Own the full software development lifecycle, from concept to production.
• Ensure software quality through thorough code reviews, testing, and best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define and refine technical requirements.
• Contribute to system architecture and play a key role in technology selection.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
• Drive technical excellence and promote best practices across teams.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies to enhance performance and scalability.
• Guide architectural decisions to ensure long-term maintainability and system scalability.
• Participate in on-call rotations to maintain platform reliability.
• Document solutions and maintain internal knowledge bases to support effective knowledge sharing.

You are a fast learner and are comfortable working with little direction. You take initiative and bring up ideas. In addition you have the following:

• Bachelors' degree in engineering and 8 to 12 years of working expereince in software industry.
• Proven expertise in Java OR Scala, with deep knowledge of backend architectures, distributed systems, and scalable infrastructure.
• Readiness to learn Java / Scala /Python if no experience at this area.
• Passion for learning and the ability to quickly adapt to new challenges.
• Strong software design skills with a focus on writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Hands-on experience with unit, integration, performance, and acceptance testing.
• Strong background in object-oriented and functional programming.
• Proficiency in HTTP, RESTful APIs, and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Experience with Apache Spark, Amazon Web Services and AWS EMR.

In this position you will get a chance to work with Core Content Publication team which is responsbile for publishing products in different formats like XML, CSVs, Json etc. and also develop tools/services which enables product creation.
