STR’s Intelligence Division is seeking a Woburn, MA-based Lead Electrical Engineer with a strong record of technical execution and project leadership for custom electronic circuit design and PCB development.  The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across STR and our industry partners to develop innovative solutions addressing technical challenges for high impact defense and intelligence programs.

This role requires a strong technical background in high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal PCB design, combined with hands-on experience in manufacturing and testing processes. You will play a critical role in the development of next-generation electronic products, from concept through production.  This position requires skills in working with multidisciplinary teams, managing design, development, and test activities, as well as technical proficiency in relevant technologies. Strong interpersonal, communication, technical, and peer-leadership skills are also required. STR seeks applicants who are self-motivated, detail oriented and strong communicators.

  • Manage PCB fabrication processes, including design for manufacturability (DFM), design for testability (DFT), and supplier interface
  • Conduct electrical validation and bring-up of prototypes; perform debugging and root cause analysis of design issues
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate board-level functionality, signal integrity, and power integrity
  • Maintain documentation and revision control for schematics, BOMs, test procedures, and validation reports

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in PCB design and development
  • Proficient in EDA tools such as Mentor Graphics, Cadence Allegro, OrCAD, or KiCad
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity, EMI/EMC, grounding, power distribution, and thermal management
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces (e.g., DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet) and analog/mixed-signal design
  • Familiarity with PCB manufacturing processes, materials, and supplier engagement
  • Skilled in lab testing tools: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, VNA, multimeters, etc
  • Ability to read and interpret technical datasheets, application notes, and regulatory specifications
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and project management skills

Who you are:

  • This position requires a Top Secret (TS) security clearance, for which U.S Citizenship is needed by the U.S government
  • Demonstrated experience in technical leadership and successful delivery of advanced development projects
  • Demonstrated desire to successfully pursue new challenges, improve and broaden technical skills, seek greater responsibilities, and increase individual value to the organization
  • Capable of effectively working in a team environment, often under tight deadlines
  • Experience in preparing and delivering high-level briefings to customers and senior management. Interacting with decision-makers and customers to translate mission needs into an end-to-end solution
