Position Summary
CVS Health is looking for a Lead Director to join our Human Resources Technology team. We’re seeking an experienced and motivated leader who provides strategic leadership and manages a team responsible for HR Technology product development by defining product roadmaps, prioritizing feature development, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring successful product launches and managing a team of engineers, defining technical strategies. Oversees the entire product lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and iteration. Responsible for successful and timely delivery of Strategic Initiatives. Coordinates with stakeholders, allocates resources, drives technical excellence, and creates alignment between business goals and technical solutions to ensure continuous improvement of HR systems capabilities within the organization.
This role may work onsite 2 days a week in one of CVS Health's core hubs in: Farmers Branch, TX; Scottsdale, AZ; Hartford, CT or Woonsocket, RI. Full-time Remote candidates will also be considered.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the multi‑year HR technology strategy aligned to enterprise objectives, business roadmaps, and product‑model principles.
- Provides leadership and expertise in defining the technical architecture and design principles for HR Technology solutions.
- Develop the HR Technology team, providing direction, guidance, and mentorship to foster a high-performing and collaborative work environment.
- Build and lead high‑performing HR technology teams to deliver critical roadmap commitments, drive operational excellence, and execute enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
- Govern roadmap prioritization, capacity planning, budget allocation, and enterprise‑wide dependencies.
- Evaluates the relevance and potential impact of new technologies on the organization's HR systems capabilities.
- Facilitate cross‑functional reviews, portfolio operations, and business case refinement sessions.
- Formulates the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Compensation products, ensuring alignment with business objectives to promote innovation and optimize employee satisfaction.
- Partner with HR business owners and COEs to align on target outcomes, OKRs, and success metrics.
- Controls the product development process, from ideation to launch, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and budgetary constraints.
- Partners with HR leadership, COEs (including Compensation), HR business owners, and HR Technology teams to gather requirements, analyze performance metrics and user feedback, incorporate industry best practices, and communicate product updates—enabling data‑driven decisions that continuously optimize product features and overall user experience.
- Manages a team of product managers, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities to support their growth and success.
- Advocates for the HR Technology portfolio internally and externally, representing the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to promote product value and drive business growth
- Responsible for timely delivery of enhancements, project requests and defects, with optimal and scalable solutions.
- Ensure Product health, compliance, scalability, and technical integrity across platforms.
- Understands the needs of the business and evaluates Workday capabilities through research and testing.
- Evaluate emerging HR technologies (AI, automation, digital employee experience tools and Workday features) to enhance workforce experience and operational scalability.
- Ensures adherence to coding standards, software development methodologies, and testing practices to deliver high-quality digital solutions.
- Responsible for advising and enforcing industry’s best practice, actively engaging with customer success team, user community and AMS/SI partners to deliver best technology solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years' experience delivering solutions in HR Technology.
- 8+ years of experience delivering solutions for HR Technology products including Compensation, Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Core HCM , Payroll, Talent Acquisition and Talent Management.
- 6+ years' of experience leading HR Technology teams and building high performing teams.
- 5+ years' experience configuring and debugging Business Processes and building solutions in Workday.
- 4+ years' experience collaborating with SaaS vendors to deliver business needs.
- 4+ years of experience overseeing execution and delivery, including planning, implementation, and production support.
- 3+ years of experience leveraging business intelligence and reporting to inform decisions.
- 3+ years of demonstrated success driving collaboration and cross‑functional teamwork.
- 3+ years of proven problem‑solving and decision‑making experience.
- 3+ years of experience fostering a growth mindset, including agility, continuous improvement, and talent development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading HR Technology teams at large organizations especially in retail and health care domains.
- Experience managing decentralized global teams.
- Ability to lead a team in a matrix organization while managing multiple priorities.
- Working in a Product Model with product ownership experience with accountability to the health of the product.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree Required.
- Master's Degree Preferred.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$144,200.00 - $288,400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
