Position Summary

We are seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to lead vendor application deployments and accelerate automation of vendor application installations and D2D (day-to-day) operational processes across enterprise environments. This role focuses on building reliable deployment pipelines, reducing manual effort, strengthening change/release execution, and enabling repeatable operational runbooks through automation.

Note on “D2D”: In our internal context, D2D commonly refers to day-to-day activities related to administration, support, and configuration; this role is accountable for automating those repeatable operational tasks. EG: Bi-weekly data dictionary/Edit code processing and quarterly vendor patching

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years in DevOps/SRE/Automation/Platform Engineering with hands-on ownership of pipelines and production deployments.
  • Proven experience deploying and supporting vendor/third-party applications across multiple environments with formal release/change coordination.
  • 5+ years of strong automation and scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, and/or similar) and experience automating operational tasks.
  • Experience with automation tooling and source control workflows (e.g., Ansible and GitHub-based practices).
  • Solid understanding of change/release practices and how to execute them without slowing delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building automation that updates inventory/CMDB or integrates with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and creates relationships between systems.
  • Previous experience with maintaining and migrating Claimsxten product
  • Experience improving observability/monitoring stacks and operational metrics.
  • Experience with container platforms and/or cloud-native operations (Kubernetes, platform engineering concepts).

Education
Bachelor's degree

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$106,605.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants.
